 Reliance to unveil low-cost laptop priced
just ₹15,000: Report

Earlier decades where technology use case was scarce so was the
technology and hence it was limited to some heavy pockets. For
example the smartphone with touch technology was a havoc in the
industry which in some time space revamped the telecom and the mobile
phone industry. Earlier this tech gadget was limited to the people who
could afford it but in the past decade stiff competition, availability of
resources and low labor cost made it affordable to the general public as
well. This kind of a revolution was introduced by Reliance which through
its subsidiary JIO made it possible. Where every human in India could
purchase a multitasking smartphone at really affordable price $81. The
tech giant is also responsible for making India the only nation to provide
cheapest data service in the world.

In 2016, Reliance Jio caused a commotion in the telecommunications

industry by offering 4G data plans and voice service at incredibly low
prices. Reliance Jio introduced the JioPhone last year at a price of $81
(6,623 Indian Rupees). The company is all set to create another havoc in
the tech industry where it will provide a laptop named JioBook and which
will cost around Rs. 15,000. It will reportedly come equipped with a 4G
SIM card. As of this month, it can be purchased by institutions of higher
education and the public sector. The product will likely be released to the
public within the next three months.

The JioBook is being made in India by contract manufacturer Flex.

According to a report by Reuters in 2020, Reliance Jio had raised
approximately $22 billion from worldwide investors like KKR & Co Inc
and Silver Lake.

The company's anonymous insider told Reuters that the JioBook will be
as successful as the JioPhone. Reliance Jio now has over 42 billion
users. The laptop will be powered by JioOS and will offer access to both
Jio and Microsoft services. Qualcomm chips based on Arm Limited
technology will provide the power.

Competing with industry titans like Acer, Lenovo, HP, and Dell is
JioBook's biggest challenge. Microsoft Windows is the most used
operating system for laptops in India. Experts say that raising awareness
among users is one of the biggest obstacles to wider use of the
technology.
The laptop will go up against a handful of products from Acer, Lenovo,
and an Indian company called Lava. However, it may be met with
opposition in countries where Microsoft Windows is the de facto
operating system on most laptop computers.

At last I would conclude that for betterment of society, people and the
country small steps and small initiatives must be taken to progress.
Businesses like JIO do make huge profits from these cheap
smartphones and laptops but they also make various improvements to
the society in general. More and more reach of these gadgets in hand of
general public which is more affordable will make these general public
more efficient in work. More efficiency means more development and
more development is more GDP. Also this revolution would be the
biggest part of Make and Made in India scheme which will directly
benefit the Indian economy system in the long run.
