Final folder - check/set synchronisation

Machine status Power On
Tools
- dial indicator
- template TP No. 567751
SPC reference 648035-0800
Find the final folder position by using one of the two tools:
Dial indicator
a) Crank the final folder. Stop immediately when the LH station wheel (2)
(RH for the Sq machines) has completed indexing.
b) Measure its exact position with the dial indicator (1).
Continue with item c) on page SI-3

d) Set the front edge of the carrier (8) distance B from
– the inside of the RH station wheel for machines with RH outfeed.
– the inside of the LH station wheel for machines with LH outfeed.
Measure by placing a plate or a bar with measure (B) against the sides of
the station wheel flaps.
Basic setting: adjust by skipping teeth on the chain (10).
Fine setting: loosen the screws in the slotted holes and turn the
sprocket (9).
Set the tension of chain (10) to 30 - 50 N with a deflection of
10 - 15 mm. Check the carrier chain; see

f) Basic setting, distance D
Loosen the timing belt pulley (21). Pull the timing belts by hand to set
the distance D. Tighten the timing belt pulley.
Fine setting, distance D
Loosen the screws on the timing belt pulley (20). Adjust with help of the
long holes.
g) Basic setting, distance C
Remove the cover over the gear wheel (18), and the spacer (17).
To loosen the belt tension, loosen the tensioners (15).
Loosen the screw (16). Pull out the gear wheel (18) from the gear
wheel (19).

h) Crank the final folder and check that the proximity switch (23) of the
distributor arm becomes activated by the carrier on the RH side (LH side
for LH outfeed).
i) Basic setting:
Continue to crank the final folder until the carrier (7) distance is F.
Measure F in
- RH position for machines with RH outfeed
- LH position for machines with LH outfeed
j) Loosen the screw (26) and turn the cam (25) to the left until the
proximity switch (27) becomes activated. The maximum distance
between cam and proximity switch should be distance E. Adjust the

proximity switch position if necessary.
Then turn the cam to the right until the proximity switch just becomes
deactivated. Tighten the screw (26).
Step up to Production and check the transport belt stop position. If the
synchronisation is functioning satisfactory, continue with item k).
If not, make a fine setting as follows:
