The suggestion to survey area restaurants to see if the situation is pervasive

would be a good idea. This is because, “surveys can help gauge the
representativeness of individual views and experiences. Furthermore, when
done well they provide hard numbers on people’s opinions and behaviors that
can be used to make important decisions.” (SurveyMonkey, n.d.). However,
limiting the scope to restaurants only may not give a clear indication of the
actual reason why beef sales have declined.

Extending the survey to customers would provide more detailed information

since they are the ones that define the actual sales. A blogger agrees with this
statement saying, “Because we have more data and therefore more information,
our estimate is more precise.”(Littler, n.d.). Thus, identifying this problem may
require a larger sample size so as to know the actual cause of the situation and
how other restaurants have also been affected. This in turn provides adequate
information to help the restaurant plan ahead on how to mitigate the declining
sales.
