Lesson 1 – Fans and blocks

This lesson is about converting between fan pleats and what I call “blocks,” which are made of
alternating pleat directions. There are four parts to Lesson 1 (1A-1D) and each begins with a 1x2
rectangle divided into 12x24. So make two 24x24 squares and cut both in half, if you like. For
every division of units not based on powers of 2, I measure and mark the landmark, so I will not
include a pure origami method of dividing into 3rds.
