Pumps are located under the Cab.
(1) Torque converter housing. (2) Steering pump. (3) Transmission pump. (4) Pilot/Brake pump.
Pilot/brake pump (4) is a fixed displacement pump. When the pump is viewed from the drive end, the pump shaft rotates in a clockwise direction.

The pilot/brake pump is bolted to transmission pump (3), which is bolted to steering pump (2). All three pumps are located under the floor of the
cab on the upper right side of torque converter housing (1).

Pilot/Brake Pump

The pilot/brake pump provides the oil that is needed for sending signals from the pilot control valve to the main control valve. The pilot/brake pump
also provides the oil that is needed in order to operate the hydraulic brake system. While the engine is running, the pump drive rotates and oil
pressure is supplied to the pilot control valve.

A gear pump carries oil (A) from inlet port (6) through the pump and then pressurized oil (B) will flow out of pump pressure port (5).

Drive shaft (7) rotates drive gear (8). Idler gear (9) will mesh with drive gear (8) as the gears rotate.

When the gear teeth separate, a partial vacuum is formed. Oil fills the spaces between the teeth in inlet port (5). The gears carry oil around the
circumference of the pump to outlet port (6). Oil is forced out of the spaces between the gear teeth as the gears mesh on the outlet port (6).

The displacement of the pump is equal to the space between the teeth, multiplied by the number of spaces which pass in one revolution of the
drive shaft. The number of spaces are equal to the number of teeth on each gear. The output will double with the volume that is developed by
having two gears. The displacement of the pump is equal to the speed of the pump times the volume of one revolution of the pump.

The oil does not return into inlet port (5) because the gears mesh and the gears fill the spaces between the gear teeth.
