SUBJECT : DESIGNATION AS DATA PROTECTION OFFICER

Republic Act No. 10173 otherwise known as the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and its IRR adopts the
international standards for data protection and the carrying out of efforts to formulate and
implement plans and policies that strengthen the protection of personal information in the country,
in coordination with other government agencies and the private sector.
Further, Section 4 on National Privacy Commission (NPC) Circular 2016-01 provides that
government agencies engaged in the processing of personal data shall, through its head of agency
designate a DPO who shall be accountable for ensuring compliance with applicable laws and
regulations for the protection of data privacy and security.
As such and pursuant to DILG Memorandum 2018-136 and 2021-002, entited Designation of Data
Protection Officers pursuant to Republic Act No. 10173 titled Data Privacy Act of 2012, you are
hereby tasked to perform the following duties and responsibilities of a Data Protection Officer
pursuant to relevant laws and regulations.
