The document provides instructions for inspecting and testing battery systems. It involves checking the condition of battery cells and terminals, ensuring alarms and bypass settings are correct, recording temperature and voltage measurements, inspecting ventilation and filters, and verifying cell voltages and resistances are within specified ranges. If all criteria are met, the battery system is recorded as passing.

1) Inspect battery cells casing and terminal condition
2) Inspect and ensure no alarm on RC or UPS system. 3) Inspect and ensure UPS is not bypass 4) Inspect RC/ INV cabinet ventilation fan function and filter condition. 5) Record as found - Battery charger current (A) to the battery - Battery charging voltage (V) 6) Record as found for following battery system condition - Battery casing good condition and not bulging or cracked - Battery terminal has no signs of overheating or corrosion - No Alarms on Battery Charger for DC UPS or Battery Charger and Inverter for AC UPS - Battery charging voltage is at 2.23V x total cell for SLA batteries or 1.43V x total cell for SLA batteries - Battery room temperature is 25 deg Celsius or lower with HVAC otherwise not to be evaluated
* Record as pass ONLY IF ALL THE ABOVE BATTERY SYSTEM
CONDITION (STEP 6) IS MET and fail if any one found not meeting condition
1) Inspect battery cells casing and terminal condition-good
2) Inspect and ensure no alarm on RC or UPS system. –no alarm 3) Inspect and ensure UPS is not bypass –normal 4) Inspect RC/ INV cabinet ventilation fan function and filter Condition. -Ventilation good, bottom and top -No ventilation fan, using netting filter. 5) Record as found - Battery charger current (A) – 0.2A - Battery charging voltage (V) – 26.9VDC 6) Battery system condition - Battery casing good condition and not bulging or cracked - Battery terminal has no signs of overheating or corrosion 7) Battery room temperature 29.4 degC 8) Battery cell terminal connection temperature – 29.8 degC 9) Battery AH rating 300AH 10) Inspect 6 random cell average – 2.3vdc 6M - Battery System Close Inspection
Complete the following tasks:
Permits, Isolations and Toolbox Talk
1) Visual inspect battery cell casing and terminal condition for
any defect 2) Check and top up electrolyte level if applicable (open cell type) 3) Record as found battery room temperature 4) Using thermal gun record as found as left each battery cell terminal connections temperature when unit is in normal service. 5) Record as found - battery Ah rating and total cell in series - battery charging voltage (V) and current (A) - Battery charger or inverter output voltage (VAC) for AC UPS system only 6) Inspect six (6) random cells and record as found - cell voltage - cell resistance 7) Record pass for condition meeting all criteria below and fail if otherwise - Deviation between lowest and highest battery terminal temperature is not more than 10% - Battery charging current is within 10% of battery AH rating - Cell voltage is between 2.2-2.25V (for VRLA) and 1.25 - 1.45V for NiCad on the six (6) inspected cells - Cell resistance deviation between highest and lowest reading is within 25%
