SEMI DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENG 105 SPEECH AND THEATER ARTS

I. LEANING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
A. Understand the introduction of stage play
B. Identify the different elements of stage play
C. Appreciate the benefits of stage play

III. PROCEDURES

A. MOTIVATION
1. The teacher will let the students watch a sample video of stage play
2. Then the teacher will ask the students if which part of the stage play did they
like the most and what loopholes did they notice

B. ACTIVITY
1. Divide the class into two groups
2. Each group will choose a stage play topic given by the teacher
3. The students will be given 15 minutes to prepare for the play and 10 minutes
for the execution
4. The teacher will grade the performance of each group

C. ANALYSIS
The teacher will teach the following content:
 What is a stage play and its purpose?
 What are the different elements of stage play?
D. ABSTRACTION
A stage play is a play performed on stage rather than broadcast or made
into movie. Stage plays are those performed on any stage before an audience. It is
a literary work written for the theater that dramatizes events through the
performance of dialogue and stage directions.
Plot, character, tension, language and spectacle are evident in all of the
best plays, TV shows and films. Some key elements in stage plays are the
performers, audience, director, theater space and design.

E. APPLICATION
The students will write an essay about:
 Their observation on their mini stage play
 The important elements that a stage play should have

IV. ASSESSMENT
The teacher will give a 10 items quiz about the introduction of stage play.
V. ASSIGNMENT
Answer the following question:
1. Give an example of the different types of stage play and its brief description
2. Write an essay answering this question; as a future teacher, how does a stage
play affect the learning or perspective of the students?
