Authoritarian or democratic activity

Each and every country in the world differs in so many aspects, but one of the most

important differences to consider is the difference on how each country is ran. Nowadays, we

are used to seeing something called representative democracy, which is a type of democracy in

which the people elect other people to represent what they want in their country. Even though

this setting has been proven quite effective,There are still governments where all political power

is concentrated in the hands of a small elite, or even one ruler, who are not required to be

accountable to the people they govern. Though completely different, the two can sometimes be

seen together.

Democratic and authoritarian governments have two completely different sets of

idealisms, so how can they be seen together? It is quite simple. There are democratic

authoritarian regimes all around the world. The phrases used to characterize this type of

administration include "competitive authoritarianism" or "illiberal democracy." Essentially, the

leaders of these regimes came to power through an election but then utilized undemocratic

measures to retain their control. People are allowed to vote in these types of pseudo

democracies, but the elections are usually rigged after the ruling party comes to power.
