Dear Students,

It’s time for a fun filled and relaxing summer break.


However, during the long scorching summer months,
whether you are travelling or at home, time must be
spent meaningfully and interestingly so that you
keep in touch with school work and have lots of fun.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR STUDENTS

∙ Holiday homework has to be done under the


parental guidance.

∙ Only 3 activities (3 subjects) per class are to be


attempted by the learners depending on their choice
or interest.

∙ It should be very neat and clean.

∙ It’s mandatory for each and every student to


complete their holiday homework and submit it on
the date assigned by their teachers.

MATHEMATICS

The advent of summers is the beginning of New


Session! New Hope! New Aspirations. Excellence can
only be achieved if the time is utilized wisely. A
blissful summer break is here. It is the right time for
honing skills and talents. We want all the students to
be global citizens, groomed up to be effective change
agents of the society. With this sight the theme of
this year Mathematics holiday homework is based on
Sustainable Development Goals 2030, proposed by
UN. The Mathematics holiday homework ignite your
thoughts process and make you aware of the global
concerns.

MATH-INARY (The Math Dictionary)

Collection of at least 20 Mathematical Terms with


definitions, examples and/ or Formulae arranged in
alphabetical order. (Compulsory for Classes VI, VII
and VIII)
CLASS VIII:

SDG 15-- Life on Land

The UN established UN SDG 15 –Life on Land to


help protect the earth’s ecosystems, promote the
sustainable management of forests and put a stop to
land degradation and biodiversity loss.

1) The students will search about five endangered


species of birds in India.

2) They will research and record the change in the


number of these endangered species during past 5
years.

3) Represent the current and previous year’s data in


the form of bar graph.

4) Find and mention five reasons for the decline in


number of selected endangered species.
Computational Thinking and ICT

Holiday is the time that we all eagerly wait for. We


all make plans to enjoy, to relax and to empower
ourselves during these days. This summer holiday
homework is designed on the theme of Sustainable
Developmental Goals proposed by the UN. The
activity - based assignments will help you foster
curiosity, develop creativity and enhance knowledge
and instill the joy of learning among you all.

Class VIII:

Become a designer:

Design a logo for a T-shirt. The logo should consist


of an image and a tagline based on any social issue or
any Sustainable Developmental Goals(SDG),
example: (a)Clear Skies, Better Lives (b) Stop Poverty
(c) There is no Planet B, etc. You can use any image
editing software.

OR
Digital Photo Album:

Collect photographs of the activities performed by


you in your summer vacations like visit to any place,
etc. Create a digital photo album of memories, using
any content sharing website such as Flickr, Picasa,
etc.

Create a weblink and send it to your friends and to


your computer teacher.

Prepare a PowerPoint presentation on the poem ‘I
Wandered Lonely as a Cloud’. There should be
approximately 10 slides. You may include slides
related to :-
● The poet - Biography

● Figures of speech

● Value points – Emphasize upon the importance of


conservation of nature to maintain a healthy
environment for all living beings.

CLASS VIII

Collect data regarding result of UP Legislative


Assembly Elections (2022) and answer the following
questions.

(1) What is the total number of seats in UP


Legislative Assembly?

(2) How many seats have been obtained by the


winning party?

(3) Compare results of UP elections held in (2022)


with the UP elections held in (2017). What are the
differences that you observe?

Institutions)

CLASS VIII

Find out about Cyclones:

1. What are cyclones and how are they formed?

2. What were the names of the cyclones which


affected India in 2021?

3. What were the areas they affected?

4. How do cyclones get their names and find out


about the names of the next four cyclones.

Science
CLASS VIII

1. Find the blood groups of all family members.


Prepare a list showing who can donate blood to
whom. State the reason for the same.
(Integrated with SDG 3 – Good Health and well-
Being)

2. List few examples of method of separation of


Mixtures like Centrifugation, Sieving, handpicking,
sedimentation and decantation etc from daily life
activities in your home.
