Title of the Game: GAME OF THROWS

I. Background of our Recreational Game

"Game of Throws" is a game invented by Group 1 from FC1-G12-01 STEM. The

invented game is named "Game of Throws" because the mechanics of the game

consists of throwing a ball from one player to another. This type of an active recreational

game is played “outdoors”. The game is played by 5 or more players per team. The

game is not only fun and thrilling, it also cultivates team-building and cooperation. It can

also be a recreational activity for both the young and the youngsters at heart, tying

together the relationship of one generation to another.

The game portrays many cultures and traits of the Filipino's. For one, it mirrors

the "Bayanihan" of the players for their team, helping each other to garner points and

not to lose one. This game will also depict the players’ perseverance and determination

to win the game. As it is also invented by the young minds of Filipino students, the

game is worthy to be regarded as a Filipino Game.

II. Benefits of the Game to our wellness

1. Reduced stress

- Players have an urge to have mental clarity to attain better mental health

by playing this game, which leads to reduced stress and anxiety in their

daily activities.

2. Improve their health

- This outdoor play can encourage more extensive movements, which leads

to healthy physical exercise.

3. This can build a stronger bond between friends or family.

4. Increases muscle strength and function

- Helps show more flexibility and fast reflex ability.

5. Develop self-confidence, independence and self-esteem.

- They also become aware of limits, boundaries and challenges in their

play.

III. The Mechanics of the Game

Equipment Needed: Ball

The ball that will be used should measure between 11.88 and 12.13 inches in

circumference, a measurement of the ball in a softball game. The ball can be made from

paper or rubber as long as it can’t hurt the players.

The Goal of the Game

First and foremost, each team is required to choose 1 member who will stand in

the center of the circle, this member will serve as a team LEADER of the group. 1 team

leader from the first group and 1 team leader from the other group. So it means that

there will be 2 persons standing in the middle of the center as the team LEADERS of

the 2 groups.

After picking the leader, the leaders of each two teams will play a short game of rock,

paper, and scissors (Jak En Poy) to

determine which of the teams will get

the “first ball”. After the Jak En Poy,

the players will form a circle in an alternating manner (depending on what team the

players belong to). The players should form a big circle 3-5 meters away. However, this

measurement is adjustable. It will always depend on the number of players per team.

The larger the number of players, the bigger the circle they make.

To begin the game, the team leader of the team who gets the first ball will then

pass the ball to one of his members around the circle. Then the member who received

the ball will pass it again but will pass it to the opposite team member around the circle.

● If the opposing team member fails to catch the ball, the leader of the first team

will try to chase the player. In the span of 15 seconds, failing to catch the

opposing team member will lead to the opposing team winning the first point.

● However, if the opposing team member catches the ball, he/she will pass it again

to the team leader of his/her team. And his/her team leader will then pass it to the

same team member around the circle.

● The same team member who holds the ball will then pass it to the opposing team

and vice versa. (The ball will no longer be passed to the team leaders, only the

members around the circle)

● If one of the team members drops the ball, the opponent team leader will then

chase the person who drops the ball.

P.S. The team leader will only wait until someone from their respective

opposing team drops the ball.

IV. Rules

Do’s:
1. Be a good sport.

2. Pay attention to the person holding the ball and keep your gaze on them.

3. To avoid being caught, catch the ball.

2. Hold onto the ball for too long.

3. Swear while playing.

4. Abandon games halfway.

Exceeding 5 fouls for a penalty

Penalty: 2 points for the opposing team

Scoring System

● If team member 1 cannot catch the ball, the score will go to team 2.

● The team leader of team 2 will then chase the member from team 1 who was not

able to catch the ball.

● If Team leader 2 will be able to catch the chased member from team 1 within 15

seconds, team 2 will score again. Thus, Team 2 will score 2 points.

● However, if team leader 2 won't be able to catch the chased member from team

1, team 1 can steal the score from team 2. Thus, team 2 will have no score, while

team 1 can have one point.

Penalty will be given to the team with 5 exceeding fouls. 2 points will be given to

the opposing team.
