The size, length, or amount of something as established by measuring.

*Length – The measurement or extent of something from end to end.

*Weight – The heaviness of a person or thing.

* Mass- An amount of matter with no definite shape.

* Capacity- The maximum amount that something can contain or produce.

2. List two instrument used to measure.


Length – tape measure, ruler

Weight- Scale, Compression Spring balance

Mass- Lever Balance, Electronic mass balance

Capacity- Mud pot, Perfume bottle

3. List three imperial units used for measuring

Length – inches (in) , feet ( FT), yards (YD)

Weight- pound (1b ), Gallon, Square mile

Mass- Gram (G), Kilogram (KG), Tennessee (T)

Capacity – Pints (PT), quarts(QT), gallons (GAL)

4. Give two examples of things each imperial units measure


Length – inches is used to measure rule, door.
Feet- is used to measure Ribbons, cloth .

Weight- pound is used to measure melons, flour.


Gallons is used to measure oil, syrup.

Capacity- quarts is used to measure salt fish, tomatoes.


Pints is used to measure water, milk.

Mass- Gram is used to measure peanut, eggs.

5. List the most common metric units used for measuring

Length – Millimeters, centimeters, Kilogram

Weight – Gram, Kilogram

Capacity – Milliliters , liters

6. Give examples of things each metric units listed above measures

Weight- Gram is used to measure a box of cornflakes

Kilogram is used to measure a thick book, dictionary

Length- millimeters is used to a pen tip

Centimeters is used to measure comb, pencil

Capacity- milliliters is used to measure honey, alcohol

Liter is used to measure soda, water.
