The CTA Suite has a default template named “CT-01 General_SingleTest.xltx”, this is only used in the
process of creating a template and should not be edited. Using existing CTA results, the results will be
imported into the template and create a Design Report, this document can be customized and saved (or it
can be edited later). It is this document that is used to create the final custom template. The template will
look the same as the Design Report. The custom template then creates a test report. The test report is not to
be used as a Design Report to create a customized template.

2.2 Initial Steps

The first task is to look in the Settings (the gear wheel) and into the Report Tab. The location of the default
folder where the templates can be stored is shown. A different folder will be set to default.

Figure 1: Options – Report

Create a folder to store your test templates. The top level of the directory holds the *.xltx files. There will also
be a folder automatically created named Reports, used to store the *.xlsx files used for creating the
templates. Also create a folder to store the final test result reports.

Figure 2: Creating Folders

© OMICRON 2021 Page 6 of 31

Then back in the settings, this is how to set the default folders. Do the same task to make the Test Results
folder default as well.

Figure 3: Set default folders

In the Create Report option, templates are grouped in 2 sections, Custom report templates and OMICRON
report templates. Custom report templates are those that have been created and stored in the users folder.
OMICRON report templates are installed with the software and are stored in a different location.

Figure 4: Create Report option

NOTICE
 OMICRON report templates are Read-only and it is not recommended to try to
change them.
 It is also not recommended to use this folder to store newly created templates.
 Use the folder created as shown previously.

These are the custom templates in the top half of the section window.

2.4 Format EXCEL Worksheet

The most time-consuming part of creating a New custom template is formatting and getting the EXCEL sheet
look as designed.
This note will give hints on how to prepare the report in EXCEL.

2.4.1 Page Layout

After using Design Report and New Template, the Design Report will look like this with a blank Custom
worksheet. This is where the required measurement and asset data will be linked to.

Figure 14: Design Report - blank

2.6 Create Template from Design Report

Another method to create a template is based on using an existing EXCEL Design Report (xlsx) template.

Figure 29: Design Report – create template from design-report

The Design Report is already available to use. Changes can be made using the edit button, this opens the
Design Report with EXCEL, for customizing then re-save and close.

Figure 30: Edit Design Report

Now create template and a new file named My New Template 2.xltx will be created overwriting the existing
template. Notice the file extension will be *.xltx

Figure 31: Create template

© OMICRON 2021 Page 19 of 31

2.7 Modify Template

To modify a report template first select an existing measurement that will populate the template with results
when the time comes.

Use the button to navigate to the test result and the file name will be seen in Test field.

Figure 32: Select test result file

The “Report template” to be used is selected from the drop down and is named:
CT-01 General_SingleTest.xltx
“Test per template” means how many CTs will be used in this template. As this example is using a single CT
test, then this remains as 1.

To keep the master template unaltered for future use, give the new template a name.

The results will go into the “Report template” (xltx) and generate a new EXCEL Design Report template
named “My First Template.xlsx” by clicking on Create.

It is the Design Report that will be opened with EXCEL, ready to be customized and from this, a new “Report
template” (xltx) will be created.
Find the relevant worksheet for the test that you loaded.

© OMICRON 2021 Page 20 of 31

Figure 33: Worksheet

This worksheet will be customized and saved for this example.

As there are no circuit burden measurements being performed, there is no need for it to be in the template. It
will be removed.

Figure 34: Edit template 1 - Burden measurement removed

As there will be no Residual Magnetism measurement being made, the Residual Magnetism fields will
change to Ratio and Phase Error on this report page. Ratio and Phase results at 5 % Ipn will be added and
linked to new results.

© OMICRON 2021 Page 21 of 31

Figure 35:Edit template 2

The report now looks like below by simply over-writing the text fields. When using different report languages,
it is recommended to setup a link to the corresponding cell on Asset 1 or X1_X2_1.

Figure 36: Edit template 3

The required results need a link applied to the cell. For this use the X1_X2_1 worksheet to make links to it.

First, click in the empty field for Ratio Error, delete the existing link formula bar entry and enter an equal (=)
in the formula bar.

Figure 37: Edit template 4

Click on the arrow head to navigate and access the worksheet X1_X2_1

2.8 Create Report feature

Create reports without loading them into the Advance CT Test module.

2.8.1 Grouping results in one document (15xCT’s)

The feature allows to create one report from multiple results. For example, 5 x CT’s Phase A, 5x CT’s Phase
B and 5 x CT’s Phase C.
A fast and easy method to create a single test report is to use the Create Report option. This allows to
create a test report without having to open measurements in the Advance CT Test module.

Figure 50: Create Report

This example will create a PDF document consisting of 15 CT’s. A 5 CT template has been created, the
software will populate the template with the first 5 CT’s, once full, it will automatically repeat the process until
all CT’ are in the report. So the template will be used 3 times.

To make is simple, keep all CT’s in one folder.

Use the button to navigate to the folder containing the results. Highlight all the results and use the arrow to
move them to the print area.

Test file move here.

Select All
This is the print area.

Figure 51: Create Report – select files

© OMICRON 2021 Page 27 of 31

As the 5 x CT template is being used, the CT’s are group in 5’s. The software will populate the results for the
first 5 CT’s, then it will use another 5 x CT template until all 15 results are in one PDF.
It is even possible to up to 30 x CT’s or higher.

Figure 52: Create Report – select template

NOTICE
 For multiple CT reporting, it is best to use PDF format.
 If PDF format is used, it will open one PDF report for all sections.
 If EXCEL is selected, it will open for each section an EXCEL report.
This can take a long time.

The CT’s results are group in 3 sections of 5 CT’s per section.

Select the template to be used and select PDF format. Now Create Report.

© OMICRON 2021 Page 28 of 31

This shows Phase A – 5 CT’s, Phase B – 5 CT’s and Phase C – 5 CT’s

Figure 53: Example report

© OMICRON 2021 Page 29 of 31

2.9 Adding a LOGO

In Settings, navigate to Reports tab. Here in the “Report logo” field there are 3 options. The logo can be set
to From template (None in CTA 5.10), OMICRON or Custom.

Figure 54: Options – Report – Report logo

Locate your logo file to attach to the report.

Figure 55: Example report with customized logo

An alternative method is to add the logo into the EXCEL template and position where required:
• From template: to keep the logo as defined in the template
• OMICRON (default setting): Places the OMICRON logo to top right corner of each page
• Custom: to replace the OMICRON logo with an individual one (top right corner of each page)
• None (until CTA 5.10): removes the logo
It is important that in the Settings, the “Report logo” is set to From template if added directly to the EXCEL
report.
