Abstract
This is a document to help assist the reader in becoming familiar with the feature in the CT Analyzer Suite to
customize and create templates. It shows how to modify an existing template and how to create a new
template. It assumes that the reader is already familiar with the CT Analyzer Suite.

Please contact OMICRON support if you have any questions or doubts regarding the safety or
operating instructions.
Follow each instruction listed in the manuals, especially the safety instructions, since this is the
only way to avoid the danger that can occur when working on high voltage or high current
systems.
Only use the equipment involved according to its intended purpose to guarantee safe operation.
Existing national safety standards for accident prevention and environmental protection may
supplement the equipment’s manual.
Before starting a test always check that the test signals are suitable for your system under test.
Only experienced and competent professionals that are trained for working in high voltage or high current
environments may implement this Application Note. Additionally, the following qualifications are required:
Authorized to work in environments of energy generation, transmission or distribution, and familiar with
the approved operating practices in such environments.
Familiar with the five safety rules.

The first task is to look in the Settings (the gear wheel) and into the Report Tab. The location of the default
folder where the templates can be stored is shown. A different folder will be set to default.
Create a folder to store your test templates. The top level of the directory holds the *.xltx files. There will also
be a folder automatically created named Reports, used to store the *.xlsx files used for creating the
templates. Also create a folder to store the final test result reports.
In the Create Report option, templates are grouped in 2 sections, Custom report templates and OMICRON
report templates. Custom report templates are those that have been created and stored in the users folder.
OMICRON report templates are installed with the software and are stored in a different location.
NOTICE
OMICRON report templates are Read-only and it is not recommended to try to
change them.
It is also not recommended to use this folder to store newly created templates.
Use the folder created as shown previously.
These are the custom templates in the top half of the section window.
Return to the CT Analyzer Suite home page and select Design Report.
The following window appears. There are 3 sections, Design Mode, Create design-report, and Create
template from Design Report.
Hover the mouse over the blue information button to see a description of each feature.
Test per template is how many CT results are required in the report.
Create Template from design-report Use an existing customized Design Report to create a
new template
Select a previous measurement that has been made and give the new Design Report a name.
My New Template 2.xlsx
Create the new Design Report and it opens in EXCEL for editing.
Three worksheets are available. The Custom worksheet is blank, ready for a brand-new look. Links can be
made to Asset 1 for CT information and to X1_X2_1 for measurement results linking.
Note: If a multi ratio test was loaded, also the measurement results for all tap combinations will be shown
(e.g. X1_X2_1, X1_X3_1, X1_X4_1, X2_X3_1, …).
The most time-consuming part of creating a New custom template is formatting and getting the EXCEL sheet
look as designed.
This note will give hints on how to prepare the report in EXCEL.
Change the margins and header as shown below and center on page.
Return to the normal view and then use print preview to see how the page will now look in preparation for
the entry of parameters.
Using a combination of the Asset 1 and X1_X2_1 worksheets, begin to create links. The Asset 1 worksheet
holds the CT specification data and the X1_X2_1 worksheet holds the results.
Enter an “=” in the cell and navigate to the Asset worksheet, select the information to be linked and press
Return key. Repeat for all required cells.
Press Return
Enter an “=” in the cell and navigate to the X1_X2_1 worksheet, select the information to be linked and press
Return key. Repeat for all required cells.
This is the measurement data.
Press Return
Close Design Report and open Advanced CT Test, load a CT measurement and create a new report.
Remember to select the new Report template and select a Report format option.
Another method to create a template is based on using an existing EXCEL Design Report (xlsx) template.
The Design Report is already available to use. Changes can be made using the edit button, this opens the
Design Report with EXCEL, for customizing then re-save and close.
Now create template and a new file named My New Template 2.xltx will be created overwriting the existing
template. Notice the file extension will be *.xltx
To modify a report template first select an existing measurement that will populate the template with results
when the time comes.
Use the button to navigate to the test result and the file name will be seen in Test field.
The “Report template” to be used is selected from the drop down and is named:
CT-01 General_SingleTest.xltx
“Test per template” means how many CTs will be used in this template. As this example is using a single CT
test, then this remains as 1.
To keep the master template unaltered for future use, give the new template a name.
The results will go into the “Report template” (xltx) and generate a new EXCEL Design Report template
named “My First Template.xlsx” by clicking on Create.
It is the Design Report that will be opened with EXCEL, ready to be customized and from this, a new “Report
template” (xltx) will be created.
Find the relevant worksheet for the test that you loaded.
As there are no circuit burden measurements being performed, there is no need for it to be in the template. It
will be removed.
As there will be no Residual Magnetism measurement being made, the Residual Magnetism fields will
change to Ratio and Phase Error on this report page. Ratio and Phase results at 5 % Ipn will be added and
linked to new results.
The report now looks like below by simply over-writing the text fields. When using different report languages,
it is recommended to setup a link to the corresponding cell on Asset 1 or X1_X2_1.
The required results need a link applied to the cell. For this use the X1_X2_1 worksheet to make links to it.
First, click in the empty field for Ratio Error, delete the existing link formula bar entry and enter an equal (=)
in the formula bar.
Click on the arrow head to navigate and access the worksheet X1_X2_1
Select the cell reference for 5 % Ratio Error and then press Return.
The excitation curve will now be removed. The finished Design Report will now look like this.
The Design Report is customized and now to turn it into a “Report template” (xltx). Select Create Template.
The left pane shows the CT results contained in the folder. The right pane shows the CT results that will be
used to make the Test report. Additional results can be added to the print pane by selecting them in the left
pane and using the right arrow button will move them to the printing pane on the right. The left arrow can be
used to remove results from the printing pane.
NOTICE
Test files can be added or removed between panes by Double Clicking on the test.
Now the new design template can be re-used for all future metering CT measurements.
Create reports without loading them into the Advance CT Test module.
This example will create a PDF document consisting of 15 CT’s. A 5 CT template has been created, the
software will populate the template with the first 5 CT’s, once full, it will automatically repeat the process until
all CT’ are in the report. So the template will be used 3 times.
NOTICE
For multiple CT reporting, it is best to use PDF format.
If PDF format is used, it will open one PDF report for all sections.
If EXCEL is selected, it will open for each section an EXCEL report.
This can take a long time.
In Settings, navigate to Reports tab. Here in the “Report logo” field there are 3 options. The logo can be set
to From template (None in CTA 5.10), OMICRON or Custom.
An alternative method is to add the logo into the EXCEL template and position where required:
• From template: to keep the logo as defined in the template
• OMICRON (default setting): Places the OMICRON logo to top right corner of each page
• Custom: to replace the OMICRON logo with an individual one (top right corner of each page)
• None (until CTA 5.10): removes the logo
It is important that in the Settings, the “Report logo” is set to From template if added directly to the EXCEL
report.
