PURPOSE : To give the guidelines to operator for taking coin sample and AFS sample at pouring line

Instructions :
1. Take the graphite cup attachment and clean it well before sample taking and wash with hot metal.
2. Make sure that graphite cup should be in hot condition before taking the liquid metal.
3. Take copper block die be sure that it is properly closed and no metal particle inside the cavity.
4. Take the liquid metal through graphite cup attachment after last mould pouring and pour into copper block and
AFS sample to fill it.
5. Open the copper die just after solidification of liquid metal and take out the coin sample with the help of tongue
and quench the sample in cold water.
6. Break the projected part of sample and chill the sample in the cold water. Simultaneously break the AFS
coupon mold and break the coupon to take the sample part with the help of hammer and cool it in water.
7. Clean the sample with cloth and put identification heat number over coin and coupon sample.
8. For last box identification put one small iron bar in the last mould for traceability.
9. Send coin and AFS coupon sample to metlab for analysis.
