DEFINING RELATIVE CLAUSES


It gives us the essential information in one sentence, telling us exactly what the person/thing is referring
to.

EJEMPLO:
The actor who plays Luke Skywalker is Mark Hamill

Without the information in the relative cause, we would not know which character we are talking about.

NON-DEFINING RELATIVE CLAUSES

These clauses give us extra non-essential information. The sentence still makes sense without this
relative clause.

EJEMPLO:
The first Star Wars film, which was directed by George Lucas, was madid in 1977

The first Star Wars film was madid in 1977

RELATIVE CLAUSES

Use these relative pronouns to introduce relative clauses.

 Who – people
 Which – things
 That – people or things
 Whose – possession or relationships
 Where – places
 When – time
 Why – reasons or explanations
VOCABULARY – Places around Us

 Campsite – campamento
 Cliffs – acantilados
 Tent – tienda de campaña
 Canal – canal
 Valley – parte entre 2 montañas
 Bay – bahia
 Seaside – cosa cerca de la playa
 Scenery – sitio bonito

persona/cosa.
EJEMPLO:

Sin la información en la causa relativa, no sabríamos de qué personaje estamos hablando..

CLÁUSULAS RELATIVAS NO DEFINITIVAS


Estas cláusulas nos dan información extra no esencial. La oración todavía tiene sentido sin esta cláusula
relativa.
EJEMPLO:
