ANIMAL CELL PLANT CELL

Similarities between animal and plant cells

● Plant and animal cells are structurally similar since they are both eukaryotic cells. They both have
membrane-bound organelles such as the nucleus, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus,
ribosomes, cytoplasm, and peroxisomes. Both have membranes, cytosol, and cytoskeletal components
that are comparable.

● Plants and animals are living things. They feed, respire, excrete, grow, move, reproduce and are
sensitive to their environment.

Differences between plant and animal cells

● Animal cells each have a centrosome and lysosomes, whereas plant cells do not. Plant cells have a
cell wall, chloroplasts and other specialized plastids, and a large central vacuole, whereas animal cells do
not.

● Plant cells have a cell wall, as well as a cell membrane. In plants, the cell wall surrounds the cell
membrane. This gives the plant cell its unique rectangular shape. Animal cells simply have a cell
membrane, but no cell wall.
