Dear BARIYIZI Félicien,

My name is Kelly Christianson and I am a currently serving education volunteer in Peace Corps
Rwanda. My site is in Gahengeri Sector, Rwamagana District where I am working in several schools to
both train teachers and improve the level of English among students. In the coming months I will be
beginning a series of trainings for English teachers and School-based Mentors (SBMs) which will
provide the knowledge and skills that are necessary for the implementation of the new competence-
based curriculum and school-based mentor program. Due to a recent cancellation of one of our
presenters, I was put in contact with Sarah O’Grady to discuss the role that RwandaAid has had in the
training of SBMs within Rusizi and Nyamasheke districts. After reviewing the work of your
organization and speaking with Sarah about the needs of our training program here, I would like to
request that both Sarah O’Grady and NTEZIRYIMANA Isaac attend our first SBM training on July 9,
2016. During the training I would like them to lead two hour-long sessions regarding “Creating a
Respect-based Classroom” and “Working with Teaching Partners”. With the grant funds I am able to
provide each of them with 4,800rwf to put towards their transportation costs, lunch will be provided at
the training, and I will provide accommodation and other meals in my home so as they can attend the
training. I am hoping to build a strong relationship with your organization in order to assist in the
development of the education system in Rwanda, and benefit all parties involved. Thank you and please
