Principles of Management "This Is It": A Michael Jackson Stage in Bangalore
INTRODUCTION
Bangalore is staging the biggest show ever in its history by inviting Michael Jackson for a stage show. M.J is on a world tour for the program THIS IS IT and has included India as one of the destinations as he has a huge fan following in the country. During this program, an Indian version of his album DANCE YOUR SOUL will be launched.
FINANCE
The total budget is for 356 crores in which 19% is from tickets, 28% from event sponsors, 42% from co-sponsors and 11% from other revenue. The expense is -----and 37% is for the show by Michael Jackson, 10% as rent, 21% for marketing,11% for construction,8% for beautification and decoration, 4% for Stage construction,3% for travel and stay, 2% for security ,2 % for advertisement, and 2 % as staff salary. The estimated profit is 115 crores from which 50% will go for charity and promotion of music.
MARKETING
Since the news value of the program is so high, marketing is an easy task. Still for publicity the following programs will be conducted.
PROMOTIONAL EVENTS
National and International promotion will be done by fan clubs of M.J. International promotional events include shows in ten Asian Countries like Islamabad, Beijing, Hong Kong, Dubai, Dhaka, Kuwait, Kathmandu, Singapore, Colombo and Tokyo. The organization financially supports the fan clubs by giving them three crores of rupees. The promotional event s in India include 17 shows across the big cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai , Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. The promotional events in India is also done by fans club for which the company is giving 150 lakhs as contribution. Posters and banners will be put in Airports, malls, pubs, clubs etc in all big cities. For online promotion we have launched a website named www.thisisit.com. Sales of tickets will be through online mode and its available through e-bay and thisisit.com. Apart from this advertisements in the newspapers and magazines will be used as a medium to drag people.
RELATIONS
This department is for managing Michael Jackson and his team, guests and invitees and the sponsors. This team will look after the transportation, stay and all other requirements for the above said people. In the relations team there are three groups ;one for M.J and team consisting of two managers and 18 members. Other two groups for guests and sponsors which consist of one manager and 9 members each.
EVENT MANAGEMENT
This team will be looking after the entire show. For this we have three sub teams. First team which includes two managers and eighteen members are in charge of construction of stage and the show. The
Second team is for stadium arrangement which includes two managers and eighteen team members, the third one is for stalls in the stadium with one manager and nine team members. Stage decoration will be outsourced and renovation will be done by BCCI and KSCA for which 25 crores is given by our organization.
SECURITY
Since its a matter of national security, and as lots of VVIPs are coming both from India and abroad, to beef up the security we have availed the services of 500 NSGs, 3500 State Police Personnel, 500 Security Guards, and 200 fire fighting personnel.
TICKET PRICING
The elite category has 3 sets of tickets under three categories. Elite 1 has 2000 seats and for one seat ticket the cost is Rs. One Lakh.
Elite2 has 2000 seats each costing Rs. 50000 and Elite 3 with 2500 seats costing Rs.30000.Apart from this, there are 4 other categories which are named as D1,D2,G1,G2,G3,G4.The cost of tickets for D1 is Rs. 10000 and D2 is Rs. 8000.The total seating capacity is 13000.G1 and G3 are for 8000 rupees and the seating capacity is 13500.G2 and G4 is for 6000 rupees and the total number of tickets available are 13500 AUCTION Apart from the above mentioned seating arrangement, 3500 seats will be given in auction in which 1000 are from elite1, 1000 from elite 2, and 1500 from elite 3.
TIMELINE
Planning is started one year before the show for the best execution of plans. From August 1st 2011 tickets will be made available and it will be closed on October 10th and auction for the remaining 350 tickets begin from 22nd of October. As the whole planning is complete and everything falling in place we hope to conduct at any cost a program which stays in the hearts of people f or a long time.
