SURAH YASEEN, Verses 1-12

Ex 1- ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:

1. What is the name of this surah.

Ans: Surah YaSeen .

2. What is the number of this surah in the Qur’an?

Ans: 36

3. What does YaSeen mean? Is it a prophet’s name? Explain.

Ans: YaSeen are two letters of the Arabic alphabet categorized as
Huroof-al-Muqat’ta’aat. These are abbreviated letters whose meaning is
known only to Allah.

4. By what did Allah swear in the beginning of the Surah, and to prove
what?
Ans: Allah swore by the Quran full of wisdom. This was to prove that
Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) is rightly guided and that he is
on the straight path.

5. What was the main mission of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon
him) according to this surah?
Ans: The purpose of Prophet Muhammad’s coming was to warn the
people against disbelief and idol worship. In addition to this he gave the
good news to those who followed him and believed in him.

6. What the punishment of the disbelievers was as described in the surah?

The punishment was in a form of a blast which was so powerful that it
destroyed the whole village.

7. What can benefit a man even after his death? Support your answer with a
hadith.
Ans: Abu Hurairah said:
The Messenger of Allah said, “when a man dies, all his deeds come to an
end except three: an ongoing charity which he leaves behind, knowledge
which is beneficial to others, and a righteous child who prays for him.”
