F. ABSTRACT OF THE PROPOSAL: Calanigan National High School – Calanigan Norte, Sto. Tomas,
Isabela has 9 teachers in Senior High School with 2 volunteer
teachers and 23 Junior High School teachers, a total of 34
teaching staff. New normal is the new system in education now;
every school is facing a problem for the reproduction of modules
and learning activity sheets for the students. Thus, to provide
resources for the reproduction of printed materials, school
campaign to purchase bond papers, printers and inks. Where fact
that modules can really help teaching and learning in order to
assess and evaluate students’ performances, learning, skills, and
achievements.

PART II: PROJECT PROPER

A. OBJECTIVES
A module can be defined as a unit, chapter, topic, or segment of instruction. A module structure
is especially important during these days in online learning as it provides an aid in the presentation and
application of the online teaching and learning process. When students are aware of the structure of the
course, they spend less time guessing about what is expected of them and more time focusing on the
content and activities. It also allows students for better evaluation and more focused for improvement.
Thus, this proposal aims to:
1. provide the needed resources of Calanigan National High School to produce learning materials,
2. create and sustain an effective and a stronger school-community partnerships which are essential for
a world-class, 21st century education,
3. pursue the mission of implementing a quality education.

B. RATIONALE
Modular teaching is now one of the most widespread and recognizes teaching learning
techniques in many countries during this pandemic. Modular approach is used almost in all subjects.
Kandarp Sejpal, 2013 said “considering the individual differences among the learners which necessitate
the planning for adoption of the most appropriate teaching techniques in order to help the individual
grow and develop at his/her own pace. Thus, the goal of the modules is to provide resources to teachers
that will allow them to transform their virtual class into active, and students to be independent and
practice student-centered learning environment.
Modular teaching is concerned for each student as an individual with his/her own special
aptitude and interest, goal for helping each students to think for himself, and allowing the individuality
to each learner. The emphasis must be on one-one students with unique abilities, aspiration, and
influencing experiences and, again to provide quality education. The individual learning may help in
developing many notable and self-reliant characters, and in such more modern ways, students enjoy
periods in which they pursue their interests and satisfy their curiosities (Manlove and David, 2018).

The goal of this is to provide quality education as an alternative ways for learning system in this
pandemic time. To help the students to continue their studies and attain of their primary needs. This
program is fully supported by Department of Education and Local Government Units to run this modular
method of teaching.
To make sure that learning remains unhampered, DepEd will be implementing a distance
learning approach – a learning delivery mode where interaction takes place between the teacher and
the students who are geographically remote from each other during instruction. This means lesson will
be delivered outside the traditional face-to-face set-up. DepEd will be providing printed module
materials for them. “No need to buy gadgets, printed materials will be given – DepEd”. Education
Secretary Leonor Briones hopes schools will eventually ‘reduce dependence’ on modular learning and
gradually shift online.
In an effort to ensure a smooth opening of classes the coming school year amid the COVID – 19
pandemic, the Department of Education (DepEd) would support of local government units (LGUs) in its
learning continuity initiatives.
As we live in a rapidly changing society, in the time of globalization, of impressive developments
and great technological wonders, we have to find a way to adapt well to that using a new development,
opening up new paths for learning and teaching. That means dealing with a modular approach in
education. It would enhance their retaining capacity. It is to be considered as an alternative during this
pandemic for active participation and better learning of students.
