Statement of Purpose

I had a sharp interest in information management and technology ever since grade school. I even
used to stare at the computer screen while he was working on office documents. As I grew older,
I came to know that despite the availability of technology in my country, the important impact of
technology on information management is yet to be realized.
Compared to other developing countries, the acceptance of technology to aid in information
organization and management was very slow specially in industrial sector which the main source
of employment and income for my country. As a result, only a handful of universities offer
undergraduate and postgraduate studies on information management. Although I was lucky
enough to get into one such undergraduate degree offer by the best university in my country, I
was greatly disappointed by their curriculum and lack of practical applications. In fact, all the
other domestic universities offered even lesser quality of education.
In order to pursue my dream of changing such national inhibition toward information
technology, I decided to obtain a foreign degree which will help me significantly in my quest.
While looking for suitable institution, I found California State University, San Bernardino branch
who offered MS degree in Information System and Technology. Their curriculum and focus on
practical application amazed me. I believe that I’ll be able to bring radical changes to the
industrial sector of my country with the knowledge and experience gained during the course.
