Key Features of Exponential Functions by Tables.

Exponential functions are written in the form: y=a b x, where b is the constant ratio and a is the
initial value.

Example:
Find the equation that represents the following table.
x 1 2 3 4 5 6
y 1 2 4 8 16 32

Solution:
Substitute any ordered pair from the table into the equation and solve for a . In the above table
x−values increases 1 and y−values obtained by multiplying the previous value by 2.

x 2 4 8
So, y=a .b , =2 , =2 , =2

So, b=2 and choose ordered pair ( 1 ,1 ) ,
