Dear traveler, greeting and saying goodbye may be a problematic


area. See how people do this in different countries.

In the U.SA., greetings are casual. Men normally shake hands.

In England, people say 'hello' when they meet friends. Shaking hands
is not usual. A kiss is common in informal situations between men and
women.

In France, people shake hands and kiss on both cheeks to greet and
say goodbye.

In Japan, the traditional greeting is a bow.

In Arab countries, men hug and kiss. Contact between men and
women is considered obscene.

In Australia, people usually shake hands. People do not generally kiss


or hug when meeting.
