A key is a method of identifying an unknown organism.

➢ A key is a set of questions about the organism you want to identify.

The answer to each question takes you to another question. You
work through all the questions until you arrive at the name of the
organism.

kind of key you are given two statements, a and b. than choose
which describes the organism. Once you have made the choice, this
leads you to another pair of choices.

➢ Genes are found inside the nucleus of every cell in the body.
➢ The genes are found on long threads called chromosomes.
➢ Genes and chromosomes are made of a chemical called DNA.
➢ Each gene is a set of instructions for the cell. The gene tells the cell
how to make a particular substance.
➢ Most genes come in several different forms.

5. Selective breeding

➢ When people breed animals and plants, they can choose which
ones they will allow to breed.
➢ Animals and plants with desired features are allowed to breed, but
those that do not have desired features are not allowed to breed.
➢ This is done for many generations, and called selective breeding.
➢ Selective breeding is a process of choosing individuals with desired
characteristics to breed together, it is generally continued for many
generations.
