EXL Module – Anode Manifold Replacement

Disclaimer:
It is strongly recommended that modules be returned to SnowPure LLC for repair and
testing. SnowPure LLC will not guarantee any results on modules repaired in the field.
Purpose:
This procedure is a guide to replacing the EXL Anode Manifold Assembly, P/N: SC-M-201-6.

EXL Module – Anode Manifold Replacement

PROCEDURE:
Note: The work environment should be fairly clean. Remove all pipe sealant, thread
lubricants, grease, oils and solvents prior to working on module.
The anode end has plumbing and cathode end has black electrical connector.
Take photos of the stack before and after the manifold replacement and send to
SnowPure LLC.
• Using a shop vacuum, evacuate excess water from the module by placing the hose on
the feed port. This should only take 2-3 minutes.
• Using scraper carefully remove the EXL by Electropure label in the Anode End Plate.
This will expose the anode electrode connector. Disconnect electrode and pull wire
through to the side of the end plate.
• Using flat blade screw driver or scraper, remove blue screw covers on both ends of
module.
• Carefully remove six bolts from positions 1, 2, 3, 4, 13
and 15. Bolt locations are as shown in photo.
• On one end of threaded rod place one heavy flat washer
and thread on two nuts and tighten.
• From the cathode end, install the six (6) threaded rods
into positions 1,2,3,4,13 and 15. Install flat washer and
nut on anode end and tighten to 20 ft. lbs torque.
• Place module, cathode side down, on supports making
sure the supports clear the bolt heads and electrical
connector
• Slowly loosen the remaining 14 bolts. Try to do this
evenly. DO NOT REMOVE BOLTS FROM STACK. Let
bolts drop to table surface.
• Slowly and evenly, loosen the nuts on the threaded
rods; this will release the “compression” on the stack.
Once all tension has been removed from the threaded
rods, remove the nut and washer, letting the threaded
rods drop to the table surface. DO NOT REMOVE THE
THREADED RODS. Cathode End - Typical EXL
• Slowly lift the anode end plate from the stack, the electrode
wire and connector will pass through the hole in the end plate. This will expose the
plastic manifold.
• Taking care not to disrupt the stack, remove the manifold. The electrode wire and
connector will pass thorough the hole in the manifold.

• Make sure the o-ring is in the groove on the manifold, install on stack followed by the
end plate
• DO NOT FORGET TO REINSTALL THE ANODE ELECTRODE CONDUCTOR.
• Use the threaded rods to compress the stack until the 14 bolts can be threaded onto the
nuts on the anode endplate.
• Using a two-step process, starting at 10 ft. lbs. torque the module using the torque
sequence shown in the photo. After all bolts are at 10 ft. lbs, torque to 20 ft lbs.
• At this point, remove the threaded rods and replace the six 12 mm bolts that were
removed and evenly torque to 20 ft. lbs.
• After all bolts have been installed and torqued to 20 ft. lbs. do a final torque using the
sequence in the photo and torque to 25 ft. lbs.
• Reconnect the anode connector to the post.
• Install new label.
