1. How did our national hero get his surname


Rizal?

Dr. José Rizal Protasio Mercado y Alonso



Realonda was his full name. Many people
are confused as to why he used the

name "Rizal" while his father's name was


Francisco Mercado. To secure his identification, he changed his surname. So he
only went by his middle name, Rizal,
which was called illustrado during the Spanish
period and involves the advantages
that a Spaniard might obtain.
The surname Rizal was involuntary beyond

2. Describe Rizal’s daily schedule of activities in

3. While as a student in Manila, what


degrees did he (Rizal) finish?

Rizal was 11 years old, he enrolled in the Ateneo


Municipal de Manila. At this school, he


read novels, wrote award-winning poetry (and even a melodrama—"Junto al Pasig"),
and practiced sketching, painting, and clay
modeling, which he maintained to do during
his life. Rizal went on to study Philosophy and

Letters at the University of Santo Tomas
after graduating from the Ateneo Municipal

with a degree in land surveying and


evaluation. After realizing that his mother was going blind, Rizal decided to study
ophthalmology at the UST Faculty of Medicine
and Surgery.

Paciano wake Jose Rizal up early on the 1st may 1882. The "pact" for the love of the
native country. Rizal and Paciano made a private agreement in 1882Rizal planned a
secret mission to do the following, with the permission of his brother Paciano:
To prepare for the big mission of conquering the Philippines from Spanish rule. He
studied the life and culture of European nations, their languages and customs, their

5. What course did Rizal take in Madrid on


his second return to Europe?

Rizal came to Madrid in September 1882


after leaving the Philippines on May 3,
1882. He enrolled in the Universidad Central de Madrid in Spain to study

medicine painting at Madrid's Universidad Central and the Real Academia de


Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Calle Alcala. Rizal returned to Madrid after his

three-month stay in France and considered authoring a book about Spain's


colonial ties with the Philippines. This
idea came to fruition in March 1887, when
the novel Noli Me Tangere was published in Germany.

Yes, she was known as, the daughter of the owner, Consuelo Ortiga y Rey caught
Rizal's fancy. However, Consuelo was torn between Rizal and de Lete. Her name
was Consuelo, She was the daughter of Don Pablo Ortiga y Rey. Rizal apparently
wanted a connection with Consuelo, but he was unable to pursue it due to two
main reasons. His friend had affections for her as well he did not want to ruin
their friendship, and he was still committed to Leonor Rivera.

7. When did Rizal start writing the


novel, “Noli Me Tangere? “ What
inspired him to do it alone?

Noli me Tangere was composed in Madrid, Spain, between 1884 and 1885,
while Dr. José P. Rizal was studying medicine. Rizal began to write the second
half of Noli me Tangere on February 21, 1887, when in Germany. After reading
Harriet Beecher Stowe's work Uncle Tom's Cabin, he was inspired to create his
novel about the same subject–to expose Spanish colonial abuse in literature.
Lastly, When the writing began, most of them felt forced to change the subject
from Spanish abuse to something relating to women. Rizal left the room and
declared that he would write the novel independently.
