Hedonism

1. For my Artwork that I’ve been admiring is the “ Let there be light “ by Valerie Ramos.

Ramos says these moments of presence with God happen everywhere – whether it be while she’s
catching a sunrise during a morning run or while watching the ocean waves on a pier at Virgin
Gorda. The most suitable response to express the splendor, the peace – and the awe of the
moment? To grab her pastels and her paper, and create something. I hopes when people look at this
paintings, it will strengthen their faith and give them a message of hope. “The world is beautiful.
God is good, and we can put our trust in Him.” This are the feelings that evokes from me.

2.Hedonism is the belief that pleasure is the only thing with final, or non-derivative, value:
everything else is valuable only to the extent that it produces pleasures. In this context, pleasure can
be defined as a pleasant sensation or as a psychological response that reinforces a subject’s
proclivity to perform the action that elicits the response.

Hedonism is the mindset of someone who only seeks pleasure and avoids discipline, hard work, and
pain. This is evident in the American culture’s desire to escape through drugs, alcohol, porn,
entertainment, and sports.

Either way, it bases value on human response rather than objective qualities. Much of today’s
church is more concerned with entertainment than with enlightenment, with pleasing me rather
than with honoring Jesus.
