Member (MNI)
Must match one or more of the following criteria:
Has been issued a Certificate of Competency by an IMO ‘White List’ Marine Administration
under STCW ‘78/’95 as amended
Has held an equivalent pre-STCW 1978 Certificate of Competency issued by a Marine
Administration on the basis of examination
Has been issued other acceptable maritime qualifications, including:
A licence as a maritime Pilot of sea-going vessels
A Naval qualification equivalent to an STCW Certificate of Competency
The Nautical Institute’s Dynamic Positioning Operator Certificate
The Nautical Institute’s Square Rig, Harbourmaster or Command Certificates
Approved qualifications as a Habourmaster, VT S Supervisor or Operator on the
basis of an accredited IALA model course, Marine Surveyor, Designated Person,
professional Yachtmaster or Officer of the Watch issued by a national Marine
Administration, Maritime Lawyer, or Maritime Health and Welfare Professional
The Executive Board may accept a minimum of three years experience in lieu of formal
qualifications from management level maritime professionals
Has other qualifications or experience accepted by the Executive Board for this purpose
* = The Institute reserves the right to only provide Seaways and other periodical publications electronically or in hardcopy printed and distributed locally.
** = AMNI (Student) rate is applicable for a maximum of 4 years whilst studying for an initial professional qualification or degree as per current regulations.
