specific topic for the people to see. It makes me proud how one film creator
in the name of A.Solito did everything to learn and absorb all of the
knowledge about his ancestors finding out that he is a Palawan.
Unfortunately it makes me sad and frustrated since the southern Palawan
people are having a hard time due to other people looking down on them
and taking places all of a sudden without any power to refuse. Like for
example when the tribes of southern Palawan were forced to evacuate an
area where they used to live so that a mining company would be able to
mine in that portion of Palawan. This was bad for the Palawan people who
lived there because after they went and lived in the mountains since they got
used to living in a plain landform a huge number of Palawan men and
women began to absorb a disease called malaria which gave them a hard
time. When they were only living their peaceful lives in a place they call
home and later on they were kicked out just so a company could make
money in order to mine and cause deforestation to make progress and
production in an industrial society.

Another example of this is the place called Puring where the mangroves are
slowly getting chopped down so no person or tribe could enter the
mangrove forest residing there which is thick and beautiful also to mention
is the island of Gusong-Gusong where they are prohibited since the family
Cojuangco owns the place. The Palawan people are refrained from stepping
foot in the place where their ancestors used to go and perform rituals and
dances like the Runsay which they rarely do. I believe we are given gifts
since the history of our culture to some are just a few trips away from us
and yet we do not learn about them or we ignore them in a way where
others prefer to just view them in Google or history book images failing to
recognize the value of learning this in person. No matter how this post-
industrial society is developing at a rapid pace we should remember to
respect and value the national treasures we have and refrain ourselves from
abolishing them since in the past our ancestors also did some of these
practices which they wish for the upcoming generations to see and learn.
