HISTORY OF MY FAVORITE SPORT

FOOTBALL

American football is the result of several major divergences from the football and rugby
associations; especially the rule changes instituted by Walter Camp, a Yale University graduate
considered the "Father of American Football".

Among the important changes are the introduction of the rules of the down and the line of
scrimmage. College football's popularity grew as it became the dominant version of the sport in the
United States during the first half of the 20th century. Bowl games, a college football tradition, drew
a national audience of college teams. Fueled by fierce rivalries, college football is still a huge draw
in the United States.

In 1920 the American Professional Football Association was formed. This league changed its name
to the National Football League (NFL) two years later, eventually becoming the premier league for
American football. Primarily a sport of the industrial cities of the Midwestern United States,
professional soccer eventually became a national phenomenon. The growing popularity of football
dates back to the 1958 NFL Championship, a game that has been called the "greatest game ever
played." A rival league to the NFL, the American Football League (AFL), began play in 1960. The
pressure it put on the top league led to a merger between the two leagues and the creation of the
Super Bowl, which has become become the most watched television event annually in the United
States

¿What is the difference between The relative Clause and non defining relative Clause?

R: Non-defining clauses also use relative pronouns, just as defining clauses do. The only
difference is that you cannot use “that” with a non-defining clause, unlike defining clauses.
Relative clauses are used to state additional information about the noun in the sentence. It’s
usually just a phrase or clause, that’s included as part of the main sentence.
