1. The longest side of a triangle is 3 ft longer than the shortest side. The
medium is 1 ft longer than the shortest side. If the perimeter of the
triangle is 16 ft, what are the lengths of the three sides?

three work.

his wife. Find their age now.

managed to eat eight more than he had on the previous day. How
many did he eat on each day?

Solution:
x + x + 8 + x + 16 + x + 24 + x + 32 = 105
5x + 80 =105
5x = 105 – 80
5x/5 = 25/5
X=5
1st day = 5
2nd day = x + 8 = 5 + 8 = 13
3rd day = x + 16 = 5 + 16 = 21
4th = x + 24 = 5 + 24 = 29
5th = x + 32 = 5 + 32 = 37

6. Bea is 6 years older than Clarize. In ten years, the sum of their age will
be 50. Find their present age?
Answer:
x + 10 + (x – 6) + 10 = 50
2x + 26 = 50 > 2x = 50 – 26

7. Jane, Paul and Peter can finish painting the fence in 2 hours. If Jane
does the job alone she can finish it in 5 hours. If Paul does the job alone
he can finish it in 6 hours. How long will it take for Peter to finish the
job alone?
Answer:
1/x + 1/5+1/6 = ½
6x + 5x + 30 = 15x > [30/5, 30/6, 30] = ½ of
11x – 15x = -30
-4x = -30 > x = 7.5 hrs when Peter solo the job

blood type B, and 2 had blood type AB. Set up a table and tree and find
the following probabilities.
