W: What a fantastic holiday, Will!

M: I know. I wanted to go to our usual beach, but actually I think I preferred the
mountains.
W: Me too. I didn’t even miss walking in the forest.
M: It was a pity Mum and Dad couldn’t come.
W: Yes, but it was nice with Grandma and Grandpa. If we go again, they’ll invite our
cousins too.
M: We couldn’t all stay in the same small apartment, like on this holiday.
W: We could sleep in tents.
M: Or at a hotel. What did you like best, Zara? Learning how to play table tennis?
W: That was brilliant. Playing it with the boys from the next apartment was great.
They were good fun. But actually, I wasn’t learning how to play. I play lots at
school.
M: I liked those amazing walks best.
W: They were a bit long for me. Was there anything you didn’t enjoy?
M: Not really.
W: Even the weather was good, except on the last day.
M: I didn’t mind the rain. We went into that café to keep dry and had amazing cake
there.
W: Then you felt sick on the way home.
Boy: True. I was glad when we arrived.

Hi Alex. Ben here. I’m phoning about the history project. Miss Fox told us about it this afternoon
but you were at the dentists’. Was that OK? I hope so! Anyway the project is about our town in
the past. We can choose our town, (slight pause), at any period in the past, like a hundred or –a
thousand years ago. And the project mustn’t be longer than three thousand words. (slight pause)
It’s got to be handed in by the end of June – not May, as you thought. So we’ve got another
month, which is good. And it has to be done on the computer, so no worries about our terrible
handwriting! Miss Fox wants us to do the project in pairs. I thought we could be partners. Is that
alright with you? Oh yeah, by the way. I’ve got a new phone – it’s the same as yours. So you’ll
have to show me everything you can do on it. Bye!
M: Hi Pat. John here. I’ve got some information for you about the concert
tickets.
You remember, you asked me about them last week. Well, the concert is not
going to be in London now – it’s in the village of Meopham. It’s got a funny
spelling, M-E-O-P-H-A-M. And the date has changed too. It was on the 12th of
July, but now it’s on the 19th, one week later but still on a Saturday. They’ve
sold
all the £20 tickets – so we’ll have to pay £10 more - so £30 - but that’s OK. I’ll be
out until 10pm this evening so phone me tomorrow. I’ll be at home all day. Bye.

F: Your attention please! We would like to remind all visitors that Treetops
Animal
Park is closing shortly at half past five. The souvenir shop will also be closing at
that time so make sure your children collect their free animal posters before
then.
For visitors without cars, there is a bus service to the train station and then on
to the town centre. There is no charge for this - just show your Treetops ticket to
travel for free.
If you would like to have dinner in our restaurant by the lake before you go
home, that will remain open until eight thirty, with meals from £11 and drinks
from £2.50.
Thank you for visiting Treetops Animal Park. Come again soon.
M: Here you are – a family ticket. That’s £25. The price includes car parking. The
dolphin show is at 3pm. And please don’t forget – don’t get too close to the animals.

Where does he go in winter?

M: I live in a flat but in winter I go to my holiday home in the mountains. In the
summer I go to my friend’s house at the beach.

Where are the man’s glasses?

On the chair. On the bed. On the table.
M: Patty, can you get my glasses for me? They’re upstairs on the chair next to
my bed.
Ok, dad.

Hi James. Mick here. I’ve got some information about a summer job at Dino’s.
They don’t need waiters now, but they still want a cook. Are you interested? The
pay is £6 an hour so for a week that’s £240 – the waiters only get £200 so it’s
not bad. Interviews start on the 1st July and finish on the 5th. The job is from
the
12th July for two months. Can you phone the manager, Mr Wright? His name is
spelled W-R-I-G-H-T. He’s a nice man. His number is 0781 double 2415. That’s
0781 double 2415. Call me later. See you.

Charlie: Hi, I’m Charlie and I live in this block of flats.

I have great neighbours - we are like one big happy family. My uncle iives here. His
flat is really cool, but it’s very small, so he has to keep his bike in the basement. You
must walk down the stairs to get to the basement - the lift doesn’t go down there.
I live on the 2nd floor with my mum and dad. My best friend Amin lives next door to
me! We often play at each other’s houses. Our mums leave the doors open, so we can
go in and out! Amin’s grandparents live on the ground floor. We often visit them and
help clean up because they are old. Then his grandma makes us delicious pancakes!
There is one big flat on the top floor. My mum’s best friend lives there with her
family. Her daughter Mary goes to the same school as me. Mary’s mum likes having
parties in the garden and she invites everyone in the building. We’re going there for a
Mother’s Day party on Sunday actually! I hope it’s fun!
Now I'm going to give you some information about university flats. The first type is
the cheapest. There are ten students in each flat. A room costs C95 per week. Each
term is a different number of weeks. The first term is longer than the others. It's 13
weeks, so it’s more expensive: one thousand two hundred and thirty-five pounds. The
second term costs nine hundred and fifty pounds, and the final term costs one
thousand and forty-five pounds. The second type of flat is £ 110 a week and you
share with three other students. In the first term, flats are available from the fifteenth
of September until the twentieth of December. You can’t stay in the flats during the
university holidays, but you can move back in on the fourth of January for the second
term.
We have quiet time at night in student flats from Monday to Thursday between ten
o’clock at night and hall past six in the morning so students can study and sleep.
Hi, Karen, have you seen your sister today?
Of course I haven’t! It’s Sunday, and you know my sister always goes ice skating on
Sundays!
Oh yes. I suppose I’ll have to see her tomorrow then.
What? On Monday? No, she’s joined a gym and she goes there every, week.
How about Tuesday? Do you think she’ll be free then?
Maybe. But she usually goes to play tennis on Tuesdays.
Lisa Oh yeah. And on Wednesday she has her painting class.
Karen No, painting is now on Thursday. But you won’t see her Wednesday because
we’re all going out to a restaurant for my dad’s birthday.
Lisa OK, I’ll wait until Friday!
Karen Umm, no, football is on Friday.
Lisa What? She can’t even play football!
Karen Yeah, I know. But she likes to go and watch. Perhaps you can try and see her
next week instead?

What does Karen’s sister do on Monday?

Play tennis. Go ice skating. Go to the gym.
When does have painting classes?
On Tuesday. On Wednesday. On Thursday.
