0. Introduction

In the main activities that are carry out in Pemex Exploración y Producción (PEP) is the design, construction,
operation and maintenance of the facilities for extraction, recollection, primary processing, storage,
measurement and transport of hydrocarbons, also the acquisition of materials and required equipment to meet
with efficiency and efficacy the objectives of the Company. About it is necessary the participation of the different
engineering disciplines that involves criteria difference.

In order to unify criteria, use disperses experiences and combine results of the national and international
researches, Pemex Exploración y Producción issue through the Technical Normative Unit these guidelines for
the structure of drawings and engineering technical documents.

1. Objective

To establish the guidelines to be applied in the patterning of drawings and technical documents to be developed
for Pemex Exploración y Producción

2. Scope

These guidelines establish the characteristics, formats and coding that the drawings and technical documents for
PEP shall get.

3. Updating

To the people and institutions that uses this technical normative document is requested to written communicate
the remarks that consider as pertinent, direct the correspondence to:

8.1 Drawings

The drawings shall be coding by two set of alphanumeric characters, separated by a guideline. The first group is
alphabetic, it is a character and the second group is numeric, it consists of three digits.

(E-XXX).

8.1.1 First Group (E-xxx); discipline code

It is constituted by a letter that identifies the engineering discipline that elaborate the drawing.

The codes of the engineering disciplines are indicated as follows:

8.1.2 Second group (E-XXX)

The second group is conformed by three digits

8.1.2.1 Work group of the discipline

The first digit corresponds to the work group of the discipline. Each project discipline has break down its
activities, conforming work groups, identify it in the number of the drawing with the first digit after the code letter
of the discipline.

E-XXX

8.1.2.2 The second and third digit is referred to the consecutive (from 00 to 99) of the work groups of the
engineering disciplines.

E-XXX

8.1.3 Approved plans for construction

8.1.3.1 The new approved drawings for construction shall get revision zero (0) with no triangle.

8.1.3.2 The previous than zero revision drawings are considered as preliminary and if are circulated for
information shall note with handwriting: -PRELIMINARY- and under it – IT IS NOT FOR CONSTRUCTION-.

8.1.3.3 The drawings that are cancelled and replace it with the same number, up to the main title box shall
contain with big and capital letter the following legend: “THIS DRAWING CANCELS AND REPLACE THE
DRAWING OF THE SAME NUMBER, REVISION NO._____ AND DATE”.

8.1.3.4 Any drawing of new issuance or that get modification shall take a consecutive number as revision.

E-XXX-X

8.1.3.5 The following shall be carry out to perform any revision in a drawing:

a) PEP made drawings by national engineering companies.

A drawing can be reviewed since it has been approved for construction (Revision zero [0]).

The consecutive revision is written, both in the expressly place in the right lower end of the references frame,
and in the corresponding space to “Revisions” of the same frame. Clearly specify in which consist the revision,

which execute and approve it and the date. Within the triangle Δ is noted the corresponding revision number.

b) Drawings made by foreign engineering companies

In this case shall proceed to perform the revision in the original drawing, writing in the revisions column the same
number of the previous revision plus a letter, for example: if a drawing of the Bechtel company get the revision 5,
revision PEP shall be 5A in order to not interfere with the possible revision 6 of Bechtel

9. Coding of engineering technical documents

The engineering technical documents, among others, are as follows:

Design manuals, datasheets of equipment and materials, design criteria, calculation memories, particular
specifications and technical-economic studies.

9.1 Codification

It uses three groups of characters, separating each group by a guideline.

9.1.1 The first group is maximum three alphabetic characters and it is the assigned code to the technical
document, according to table No. 5.

As follows is indicated the code, according to the document type.

Code Technical document
MPR Procedures manual
HD Datasheets
CR Design Criteria
EPI Particular specifications
PRC Calculation procedures
ETE Technical economic studies
MC Calculation memory
VOL Work Volume

(ESP-x-xx)

9.1.2 The second group is an alphabetic character and it is referred to the code that identifies the engineering
discipline that the technical document issues according to table no. 4.

(ESP-A-XXX)

9.1.3 The third group consists of three digits and it refers to the consecutive number that the technical document
assigns to the engineering discipline.

(ESP-A-000)

9.2 Format to be used (Please refer to Attachment B)

There is a determined format according to the document type.

9.2.1 For datasheets is the A1 type format (please refer to figure B-3).

9.2.2 Format A2 is for drawings, sketches, details, cuts, arrangements, etc., of a determined project (Please
refer to figure B-4).

9.2.3 Format A3 is for other documents like: particular specifications, design criteria, procedures, studies, etc.,
this format get a coversheet, a free space in the upper part to place the name of the document type and in the
box of the right end the respective nomenclature (please refer to figure B-5).

9.2.4 The document of particular specifications can use format with multiples of letter size as required, using its
respective A3 coversheet.

9.3 Size and thickness of the letters

Sizes and thickness of the coversheets letters shall be respected, as indicate on each case.

10. Scales

Depending on the activity to be developed is frequent that disciplines uses some of the following indicate scales,
that shall meet NOM-008-SCFI

10.1 Process
It do not require scales

11. Generalities

General guidelines for structuration and finishing, for engineering drawings and technical documents

11.1 Sizes

11.1.1 “A”
Letter size, 215 mm width by 280 mm length, for diagrams and schemes that may be clearly elaborate in the
available area of the drawing (Please refer to figure A-1).

11.1.2 “B”
Multiple of letter size in horizontal direction, 280 mm width by 405 mm length (B-1), 595 mm (B-2), 785 mm (B-3),
increasing 190 mm per each multiple of letter that be required as necessary (Refer to figures A-2 and A-3)

11.1.3 “D”
Double letter in vertical direction of 560 mm width and approximately five in letter size in horizontal direction of
9000 mm length. Ideal size for any kind of work by its ease management and drawing elaboration, also the
obtaining of copies and file (refer to figure A-4).

11.1.4 “E”
Approximately three letter size in vertical direction of 900 mm width and six letter size in horizontal direction of
