II. MATTERS TO BE
INVESTIGATED:

To determine the facts and

circumstances surrounding the
said case.
III. FACTS OF THE CASE:

On or about 8:00 in the evening

of December 17, 2022, Rjohn De
Guzman seek assistance and
reported the murder case he had
witnessed at San Gabriel
Landbank, beside Cagayan Sports
Complex near GICT while he was
sitting at Aling Nena’s Store
drinking softdrinks.

According to the witness who

happened to know the suspect, he
saw the suspect Jerimi Antonio
Escobar, 34 years old and a
resident of Caggay, Tuguegarao
City, having a conversation with
the victim Gelonie Fernando 29
years old, bank teller and a
resident of Caggay, Tuguegarao
City, but the two seems to have an
argument.

After 10 minutes of
conversation between the suspect
and the victim, the witness saw
that the suspect was stabbing the
victim with the use of a screw
driver until he fell on the ground
and died. Triggered with fear, the
witness run and hide himself and
watched the incident as the suspect
repeatedly stabbed the victim.

The suspect escaped using a red

and black Yamaha sniper 150
motorcycle together with the
weapon he used to stab the victim.
The suspect headed towards Bagay
Road after committing the
incident. The witness run towards
7/11 store where he saw COP who
was patrolling the area during that
day and the police immediately
responds to the said crime and that
was the time he called to
investigate the crime.

After the investigation, they

took the victim to the hospital to
perform an autopsy and according
to Dr. Hannah Geronimo, the
victim sustained 34 stabbed
wounds. Wherein there is 5
stabbed wounds in the left chest,
10 stabbed wounds in the right
chest, 5 in the lower left abdomen,
five in the neck and 9 in the back.

IV. DISCUSSION

In the initial investigation,

conducted by the investigating
officers SPO2 Erikha Narag and
SPO1 Jerica Mae Narag headed by
the Police Inspector Patrick James
Calimag, the suspect and the
victim mutually knew each other
and they had an existing argument
before the commission of crime
regarding the loan approval. Based
on the investigation of Tuguegarao
City Police, Gelonie Fernando a
bank teller refused to approve the
application of Jerimi Antonio
Escobar for the reason that the
suspect still has an existing loan to
pay. The witness was interviewed
by one of the assigned personnel of
the investigation team headed by
the Police Inspector Patrick James
Calimag and based on the
statement of the witness he
identified the suspect as Jeremi
Antonio Escobar. The TCPS
immediately search the current
whereabouts of the suspect. The
investigating team were able to
identify the location through the
CCTV cameras intalled around the
area starting from where the
suspect headed after the
commission of the crime and other
nearby residents who happened to
noticed the suspect. December 19,
2022 at around 6:00 in the morning
the suspect was found at Addun
vulcanizing shop in Aquino Street
Atulayan Sur. From the suspect’s
possession the red and black
Yamaha Sniper 150, Oppo A15s
mobile phone, and the 7 inches
screw driver was recovereed by th
police. The 7 inches screw driver
was the instrument used by the
suspect to kill Gelonie Fernando
was brought to the Tuguegarao
Forensic Institute for forensic
evidence.

V. CONCLUSION:

After a careful perusal

surrounding the particular resident,
a fact of comparison related with
the instrument used in the
commision of the crime resulted
positive and was confirmed by the
attending Forensic examiner Dr.
Hannah Geronimo. A blood stain
was found the 7 inches screw
driver that contains the DNA of the
victim Gelonie Fernando. The
vehicle described by the witness
was also found in the suspect’s
possession. The suspect was
arrested and brought to the
Tuguegarao City Poloce Station.
VI. RECOMMENDATIONS:

Wherefore in view of the

foregoing, this office hereby
recommends that a case for
Murder under Article 248 of the
Revised Penal Code Code be filed
against the suspect Jeremi Antonio
Escobar 34 years old, married,
jeepney driver, resident of Caggay
Tuguegarao City at City
Prosecutors Office. The suspect
will be under the custody of the
arresting team and will be placed
in jail for further questioning and
clarification as may be required by
the prosecutor.
