LESSON PLAN IN EARTH AND LIFE SCIENCE

GRADE 11/12

Content: Exogenic Processes

Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of geologic processes that occur on the surface
of the Earth such as weathering, erosion, mass wasting, and sedimentation

I. OBJECTIVE
At the end of the session, the student should be able to:
 Describe how rocks undergo weathering (S11/12 ES-Ib-11)
 Explain how the products of weathering are carried away by erosion and deposited elsewhere (S11/12 ES-Ib-
12)

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. Content: Weathering and Erosion
B. Reference: Earth and Life Science by Sia et. Al.

C. Materials: Ppt presentation (Laptop, HDTV)
Used Illustration Boards
Sand
Stones/ Rocks
Sand Paper

III.PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer and checking of Attendance
2. Review of the previous lesson
3. Reading of objectives

B. Lesson Proper 5 E’s Instructional Plan

1. ENGAGEMENT
 Brainstorming through PICTURE ANALYSIS
o The teacher will show 2 pieces of stone, one is smooth and the other one is rough and the
students will compare from its texture

2. EXPLORATION
 The students will be divided into groups: half of the groups will be performing the ROCK-ME-UP
activity while the other group will be performing the SEDIMENTS-ON-THE-MOVE Activity

Activity: ROCK-ME-UP
Objectives: Compare the different rates of weathering
Materials: Sand Paper, different kinds of rocks
Procedure:
1. Collect different kinds of rock
2. Rub a rock on the sand paper over a sheet of paper
3. Repeat the procedure for the other rocks
4. Determine which rock has the most broken-off particles

Activity: SEDIMENTS-ON-THE-MOVE
Objectives: Determine the different agents of erosion
Materials: Used Illustration Board, Sand and soil
Procedure:
1. Place the sand and soil on one side of the illustration board
2. Try different ways to transfer the sand and soil without touching it
3. Answer these questions:
a. What did you do to move the sediments?
b. Which is easier to move, the sand or soil? Why?
3. EXPLANATION
 The groups will report the output of their activity
 Discuss concepts of weathering and erosion

4. ELABORATION
 Video Presentation: Weathering and Erosion
 Guide Questions:
o What can you say about the video?
o What have you gained from the video?

5. EVALUATION
 Enumeration
Nos. 1-2. Name the two classifications of weathering
Nos. 3-5. Give 3 agents of erosion

REFLECTION:
Reflect on your teaching and assess as a teacher. Think HUMSS 11
about your student’s progress this week June 27, 2018
2:00-4:00 pm
A. No. of Learners who earned 80% in the evaluation
B. No. of Learners who require additional activities for
remediation who scored below 80%
C. Did remedial lessons work? No. of learners who have
caught up with the lesson
D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation?
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did
these work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or
supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I use/
discover which I wish to share with other teachers?
