National Mathematics Talent Contest (NMTC)

What is NMTC?
National Mathematics Talent Contest (NMTC) is a national-level
programme in India. NMTC aims to discover and encourage students who
have the capacity for original and creative thinking and the readiness to
attack unfamiliar and non-routine problems. NMTC is conducted by The
Association of Mathematics Teachers in India (AMTI) since 1968.

Targeted Grades for NMTC

Primary Level Classes 5 and 6

Sub-Junior Level Classes 7 and 8

Junior Level Classes 9 and 10

NMTC Exam Date


Stage 1: 15th October, 2022 Stage 2: 7th January, 2023

Medium of Exam : The medium will be ENGLISH only

Mode of Examination

Duration
The exam duration will be 2 hours for the preliminary (Stage 1) exam.
The exam duration will be 3 hours for the FINAL (Stage 2) exam.

Type
The preliminary (Stage 1) exam conducted will be of objective type for
Primary, Sub-Junior, and Junior levels.
The Final (Stage 2) exam will be of subjective type.

The top 10% of the students from each institution taking the
Stage 1 exam will proceed to qualify for the Stage 2 examination
in January.
