SEMI – DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN HEALTH 9

I. OBJECTIVES:
A. Content Standard
The learner demonstrates understanding of the concepts and principles of safety education in
the prevention of intentional injuries.
B. Performance Standards
The learner consistently demonstrates resilience, vigilance and proactive behaviors to prevent
intentional injuries.
C. Learning Competency
1. Differentiate intentional injuries from unintentional injuries; H9IS – IVa – d - 31
1.1 Classify the given situation as to whether they refer to intentional or unintentional
injuries.
1.2 Showcase examples of intentional and unintentional injuries through role playing.
1.3 Show enthusiasm in doing the activity.

B. LESSON PROPER

1. MOTIVATION

(The teacher will ask the following question to gain the attention of the student’s)
So what time do you usually go to school in the morning?

Why do you have to leave your house that early?

How about the others, what are your means of transportation in going to school? Where do you
ride in going to school?

So where do you think is much safer, to ride on a bus, a jeep, motorbike, or tricycle? Why?
ACTIVITY:
OUCH! COMPLETE ME NOW.
Direction:
There are incomplete sentences and picture of persons with different professions at the board,
so you are going to complete the sentences of each characters. You can give as many injuries
as you can and explain how possible this kind of injury might happen to these persons.
The following are the pictures at the board:

(Example: For a Doctor, injury may be a laceration on the hand while doing the surgery.)

2. ANALYSIS
What concepts or conclusion can you make from the activity that you have done?

Who can give a hint on what will be our topic for today?

3. ABSTRACTION
(So for us to further know about our lesson, let’s have another activity.)

The class will be divided into 4 groups.

Group 1 will discuss and give the definition of the injury using a prototype way of reporting.

Group 2 will work on the classification of injury. Differentiate intentional injury from unintentional
injury by making a short article about the difference of intentional from unintentional injury.

Group 3 will work on the classification of injury by making a short comic’s strip where injury took
place to the character in the story.

Then group 4 will classify the given news headlines as to whether they are intentional and
unintentional injury. After classifying the given headlines they are going to make a short radio
broadcast about a headline.

Group 2- unintentional injury

The class will be divided again into same group. I will show you various pictures of injuries and
you will tell me whether it is intentional and unintentional injury by raising the cartolina sign board. The
first group to give the correct answer will be given a worth outlay.

List down unintentional injury that happens inside you house.
