    Indonesia plans to establish a maritime control system with 8 water gates and 15 coastal radars to monitor ship traffic. The system will have 3 gates in the north area (Natuna, Makassar, and North Arafura) monitored by 8 radars, and 5 gates in the southern area (Sunda, Lombok, Sape, Alor, and South Arafura) monitored by 7 radars. The gates will establish local maritime situations that integrate radar, automatic identification system, and vessel monitoring system data, which will then be combined into a national maritime situation picture in Jakarta along with existing ministry systems.
