 Description:

Sustainable strategic management (SMM) is a process which provides all insights of present and
future ecological, societal, natural strategies to deal with their organizational strategic role. It is a
complete function which starts from the mission and vision of an organization till its formulating
and implementation of their business strategies. SSM analyze all these components to gain
competitive, social, economic advantage to balance the cycle of nature. SMM is mostly deals or
concerned with all those strategies which they think is good for the planet, environment, health
and for society benefit and all of these will lead towards a competitive advantage. SMM analyze
all the current circumstances, ecological change, health issues, environment effects and societal
trends; to develop their organization strategies according to the current situation/ environment.
And it should be done to maintain a sustainable strategic environment for the organizations, who
were already considering all the aspects in their strategies. SMM is also applied in organizations
missions and visions statement that creates a positive brand image to the public. SSM is an
evolutionary idea but now it has become matured as, the organizations who are pioneers only
works on SMM to gain a competitive advantage but now, SMM is not only concerned to it. It
had expanded to corporate and functional levels, to do good for the society and environment.
The strategy performance relationship is primarily focused on economical and short-term
outcomes related with the organization strategies. From these short-term environment and
economical outcomes organizations can achieve long term competitive sustainability. SMM is
highly concerned with the development and implementation of strategies that are sustainable
from both market and economic point of view. Many challenges have been faced for the
development of sustainable strategies. Different parameters, researcher’s consultation and
directions were needed to overcome these challenges. Organizational change that results after the
implementation of SMM components, considered a serious challenge for organizations.
Organizations should develop complex strategies and continuing their struggle for the
achievement of sustainable strategies for the sake of gaining a competitive advantage; and to
improve their ecological and environmental strategies for the human lives. As small a
organization is, it feels more difficulty to implement these strategies for the sake of achieving
suitable competitive advantage. As a solution, small organizations uses a model GES for
attaining SMM. Sustainable strategic management is a coevolution thinking, the business
ecosystems designed specific opportunities for their members by creating socially and ecological
responsible activities. Niche markets and the business ecosystem leaders has a powerful impact
in implementing the strategies for the benefit of human life. And provide a guide or a footstep by
a proper innovation or theme to other organizations who will work for the benefits of humans. A
proper need of guidance is still missing in the businesses for the sustainable development of
economic, social, environmental, and ecological needs of humans. So, integrating the corporate
sustainability in strategic management is important. The organization’s/businesses should need
to link their core strategies with their sustainable strategic management to gain a competitive
advantage.
 Justification:
The need for developing a sustainable strategic environment requires economic, social,
ecological, and natural components in consideration. Sustainable strategic management
works for the needs and wants of present human populations and also not prevent the
needs of future generations. SMM goal is to provide benefits to humans lives by
providing them a healthy and sustainable environment. Sustainable advantage is
concerned with a competitive advantage for organizations. Sustainable strategic
management consider all the components which is a need for human lives should be
considered then accordingly the strategies, formulation and implementation of that
strategies is executed for the welfare and benefit of mankind. Mission and vision of
organizations also develop according to the sustainable strategies.
