OBJECTIVES
TO GET THE KNOWLEDGE AND INSIGHTS OF THE
ADOLESCENT STUDENTS TO INCLUDE SEX
EDUCATION IN THEIR CURRICULUM IN THE
SECONDARY EDUCATION.
TO IDENTIFY AND DESCRIBE THE PARENT AND
EDUCATOR’S MARGIN INTO THE INCLUSION OF
SEX EDUCATION INTO THE CURRICULUM FOR
THEIR CHILDREN.
TO PROVIDE SUFFICIENT EVIDENCES AND
PERCEPTION FROM THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS OF
METRO MANILA INTO ADDING SEX EDUCATION IN
THE CURRICULUM OF SECONDARY EDUCATION.
RATIONALE
64% of women and 74% of men under the age of 18 had
at least one sexual encounter. Only almost 30% of the
young adolescent population continued to abstain. Teenagers
who were sexually active regularly used contraceptives—
25% of them. Sexually transmitted diseases were
contracted by 33% of the adolescents aged 13 to 19.
According to the Young Adult Fertility and Sexuality Study
2021 (YAFS) of the University of the Philippines Population
Institute
1,054 confirmed HIV-positive people were reported to the
HIV/AIDS Registry of the Philippines (HARP) in February
2022
RATIONALE
The researchers used the following as motivation in
choosing the topic:
Research sub-questions:
Are parents willing to allow their child to take sex
education in school?
Does the student have basic knowledge about matters
related to sex?
What are the sources of information of the student if
matters related to sex are not discussed at home?
