Guidelines For New Service Design Project
For the project, one service sector would be chosen by each group (it could be Financial, Health,
Transportation, Retail, Tourism, Hospitality, IT & ITES or Educational Services). Each group
will investigate this service sector on the following situation analysis aspects:
Overview of the sector/Industry
Major players in this industry
Current trends in relation to that sector
How Technology has shaped up the business models in the sector
Specific challenges faced in this sector What opportunities do you see in this sector?
The team will think of a new service startup within that sector and prepare a service
concept and service plan for the new service. The student team will have to elaborate upon:
-Service concept/flower of service
-7 P’s for the new service
-Service Process Blueprint for the new service start up ideated by the students. The blueprint
should include all the blueprint components as discussed in class.
a. The Service Blueprint
b. Identify the important service encounters and possible fail points
c. Strategies to plug probable fail points
Project presentation : The group will also be required to give a presentation on the above
project
Evaluation: The word document for the project will be submitted on moodle. The
presentation for the project will be scheduled by the instructor.
