Ducks
Duck, any of various species of relatively small, short-
necked, large-billed waterfowl in the family Anatidae.
Ducks are mostly aquatic birds, and may be found in
both fresh water and sea water.

(2016-2021)
2016
The total duck inventory in the country as of July
1, 2016 was 10.95 million birds. About 70.26
percent of the total duck population were raised
in backyard farms while 29.74 percent were
grown in commercial farms.

The total volume of duck production from


January - June 2016 was 16.06 thousand metric
tons or a decrease of 1.77 percent. For duck egg,
volume of production grew by 2.41 percent or
from 21.23 thousand metric tons last year to
21.74 thousand metric tons this year.

The total duck inventory as of July 1,
2017 stood at 11.29 million birds.
Inventories in both backyard and
commercial farms went up by 2.05
percent and 5.52 percent, respectively.

-grew by 2.05 percent, 69.56%
Commercial farms
- increased by 5.52 percent from the
2016 count.
2018
As of January 01, 2018, the total duck
inventory registered a 3.49 percent increase
from last year's bird count.

Laying flock
- accounted for about 50.00 percent of the
total duck population. 5.65 million birds total
inventory
Growing flock
- shared 32.63 percent of the total duck
population reduced by 3.75 percent or from
3.66 birds in 2017.
Day-old duck
-increased by 32.99 percent.

As of 1 January 2019. the total duck


inventory stood at 11.58 million birds.

The increase in inventory was
due to the increase in laying
flock and day-old duckling
stocks.Among all ages, laying
flock shared 51.80 percent of
the country's total duck
inventory.
2020-2021
The total volume of duck production in 2020 was estimated at 29.55 thousand metric
tons, liveweight. The total volume of duck production in 2021 was estimated at 29.10
thousand metric tons, liveweight. This was -1.5 percent lower than the previous year's
output of 29.55 thousand metric tons, liveweight.

percent, 13.31 percent and 12.43 percent,
respectively.

As of 1 January 2019, the top three regions in terms of duck inventory were Central Luzon,
SOCCSKSARGEN and Western Visayas. These regions contributed 58.06 percent to the total duck
population.
