A. Preparation:
When reading, it is advisable for you to keep a journal. Write your reaction and reflection to
each chapter or topic as you read it. If you see a quote, word or phrase that you may want to
use in your paper, be sure to write the reference of the quote, word or phrase in your journal.
This will save you a ton of time when it comes to writing your paper.
1. For our purposes, you will need to use MLA format for in texts citations throughout your
reflection paper.
2. Content: Your 1-page of writing should contain the following four sections. Address the
guide questions in essay style, don’t just answer questions.
a. Summary: In one paragraph, you are to summarize the material to which you are
reflecting. Do not merely repeat the text. Follow quotations at the end of the sentence with an in
text citation. Failure to cite your material constitutes plagiarism and may result in
having a failing grade.
b. Meaning: All papers will devote several paragraphs to this question: Choose a major
theme or topic that is struck you. How does this section complicate or add to that larger
message? How does this section contribute to the larger ideas we have been doing in DILG?
c. Reflection: In two or more paragraphs, give your personal reflection to this material.
Your reflections could include any or all of these points:
Why do you think this PPA was a good or bad? Why did it struck you? How did you
feel? Did you like the reading? Dislike it? Explain your realization.
What did you find surprising about the reading? What angered or delighted you?
d. Application: All papers should conclude with one paragraph addressing this
question: How does this material or PPA relate to your own life experience as LGOO? Or how
would you make yourself a better LGOO through this reading, realization and learning?
Explain.
