JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Internal Audit Manager

Job Objective/ Purpose • Manage, plan, execute, and report on Internal Audit activity within the AXA Mansard
of Job: Nigeria in order to provide timely, independent assurance and in doing so, to
improve the control culture and support the Group and INM Audit.
• Provide an independent and objective assurance/consulting services to
Management, the Board, and other relevant stakeholders, with the aim to add value
and improve the organization's operations, by bringing a systematic, disciplined
approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control,
and governance process
Job Grade Level: Executive
Location: Lagos/Assigned Location
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports To: Head of Internal Audit (CAE)
Supervises: Senior Auditors (Senior IT Audit & Systems Assurance Officers), Auditors (IT Audit &
Systems Assurance Officers)
Other Relationships Auditors/IT Audit & Systems Assurance Officers, Regional IA Staff (INM) / Regional IT
(Internal & External) Auditors, Other Heads/Units & Departments, Other Support functions, Group &
Divisional Heads, EXCO Members, Audit & Compliance Committee (and other ACs
within AXA Mansard Nigeria), External Auditors, Industry peers, etc.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
ACCOUNTABILITIES/
RESULT AREAS
• Oversee the completion of all phases of the audit process for assigned multiple
concurrent audits to the required Group and IIA Standards.
• Maintain a strong understanding of key business, finance, and regulatory
requirements for the area of the business covered including, emerging risks.
• Perform risk assessments for the area of the business covered, contributing
significantly to the entity’s annual internal audit plan.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance the skills and capabilities of your direct reports,
empowering them, encouraging knowledge sharing and best practices.
• Develop effective relationships with relevant management within the business
areas covered.
• Work with management in tracking action plans to assist with timely resolution.
Internal Audit Function
• Apply internal audit standards and best practice, ensuring application of GIA
(group internal audit) standards/CAPT Methodology during audit reviews.
Provide ideas and input to the continuous improvement of GIA processes.
• Shares expertise within the wider Global Internal Audit family.
• Is responsible for their own professional development and pro-actively identifies
relevant training and development needs and develops their own professional
network.
• Coordinate and Investigate cases of misappropriation, misconduct, fraud, and
issues reported via the Company’s whistle blowing platform, and make necessary
recommendations in line with the investigation outcome, and to improve controls
weaknesses identified.

• Acting as a third line of defence, Internal Audit assists management in delivering its
strategies. This means remaining fully up to date in a changing business

and challenges for internal audit.
• Supporting Audit teams in delivering challenging but fair messages and insights
constructively and with empathy within a complex, and challenging organisation.
• Ability to communicate and explain, in a convincing manner, sharing with various
stakeholders in a clear and transparent way that enables them to easily understand
and improve.
• Coordinate the activities of the Internal Audit function of the Company and its
subsidiary entities, and provide support to the CAE / Head of IA Function
Conduct comprehensive risk assessment of the Company’s audit universe as a
base for annual audit plan
Deliver on the Company’s annual internal audit plan and ensure that audits are
performed in line with the required standards
Ensure that audit issues are appropriately raised and addressed, and keep key
stakeholders informed of IA activity
• Forge relationships with the SBUs covered by the IA function in order to be abreast
of latest developments

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/ Professional ▪ BSc. from a reputable tertiary institution (preferably in accounting or other
Qualification: business-related fields).
▪ Professional qualification: ACA or ACCA, CISA, Internal Audit Practice Certification,
or others of similar equivalence.
▪ Possession of an MBA/Master’s degree in relevant discipline will be added
advantage.

▪ The job holder has relevant professional qualifications, knowledge, and experience
to carry out their role appropriately – the “fit” requirement.
▪ 7 – 8 years relevant experience in Audit (internal/external), with at least three (3)
years of leadership experience, or at middle management/supervisory level
Experience: ▪ The job holder must have the level of expertise required to play manager role/lead
the IA Function (Intermediate – Advanced), and effectively support the Head of IA
(CAE).
▪ There are no unresolved doubts as to the job holder’s repute or integrity – the
“proper” requirement.

▪ Business acumen: maintain expertise of the business environment, industry practices
and specific organizational factors. Considerable knowledge/ experience in the
financial services industry/insurance, regulatory environment, etc. and Internal Audit
practice.
▪ A well-developed knowledge of corporate governance, risk management principles
Technical: and internal controls.
▪ Demonstrable ability to articulate clear expectations and business goals and link
these to organizational strategy.
▪ Internal audit delivery: deliver excellent quality internal audit engagements.
▪ Proficient in the use of MS Applications
▪ Management and leadership through team of professionals.
▪ Strong people skills and experience of managing/developing a multi-disciplinary team
of professional IA staff. Anticipate and respond sensitively to staff problems,
concerns and questions.
▪ Be able to monitor staff performance and workload and provide constructive and
timely feedback to help others achieve their goals. Coach others to enhance their
competence and professional development.
▪ A well-developed knowledge and ability to apply Data Analytics for audit purposes. ▪
Be flexible and able to adapt to change.
▪ Ability to influence senior levels of management, breaking down silos and sharing
knowledge.
