Chemistry SSC-II Chap#13 Notes
DNA consists of two strands, twisted around each RNA only has one strand, but like DNA, is made
other to form double helix. These strands are up of nucleotides.
made up of subunits called nucleotides.
The sugar in DNA is deoxyribose, which contains RNA contains ribose sugar molecules,
one less hydroxyl group than RNA’s ribose.
The bases in DNA are Adenine (‘A’), Thymine (‘T’), RNA shares Adenine (‘A’), Guanine (‘G’) and
Guanine (‘G’) and Cytosine (‘C’). Cytosine (‘C’) with DNA, but contains Uracil (‘U’)
rather than Thymine.
DNA replicates and stores genetic information. It RNA converts the genetic information contained
is a blueprint for all genetic information within DNA to a format used to build proteins,
contained within an organism and then moves it to ribosomal protein
factories.
