REPORT ON INTERNATIONAL WIDOW'S DAY CELEBRATION

On Friday the 24th of June 2022, the pinefon's Initiative team went to Effurun
Community market to purchase Various items, of which include; Cartons of
indomie, beverages, rice, garri, oil, beans, tailoring equipment and so on.
On Saturday 24th June 2022, at the ugbirikoko community town hall.
The program kicked off at exactly 12 noon. Opening prayer was made by one of
the team member, person of Kesiena ogheneovo Happiness, after which the
opening speech was taken by Mrs Mfon otite Douglas, the founder of the
pinefon initiative Empowerment. She gave enlightenment on what pinefon
initiative is all about, and the reason why the widows international day program
was been celebrated.
After which Mr Joseph, a chattered accountant gave a brief lecture on the
reasons why these women should be involved in co-operative, that will enable
them grow their business and function well in all they do .
The skill acquisition training followed immediately after the lecture.
Miss Ijeoma Anthonia gave a wonderful lecture on soap making and practicals
were carried out by the women in various groups and all.
Moving straight was presentation of items for the widows, but before then, a
dance competition was organised of which Six winners emerges and gift was
presented to them. Then the presentation of items and cash gifts was given out
in an orderly manner. The process went all smoothly.
The distribution of the liquid soap from the skill acquisition training was done
among the women. Followed by refreshment.
Closing remarks and prayers we're done by both parties, the widows filled with
joy pour out words of prayer to the pinefon empowerment initiative.
The international widows day program was marked a successful celebration.
