ELECTRICAL REQUIRMENTS

 General Requirements

The contractor shall carry out and responsible for electrical engineering designs, purchasing,
shipping, transport, construction, installation, inspection, pre-commissioning, commissioning, testing
and start-up of all electrical equipment and systems in accordance with electrical design
requirements, international criterions related to this type of applications and site requirements.
(Except for the supply of existing equipment that will be used)

 Scope of work & supply :


Should include but not limited to the following:

- The Contractor shall supply and install the following internal cables, motors, junction boxes cables
trays if any, panel including control system such as drive ,processing units ,braking units ,control
cards ,terminals ,safety and interlock sensors and limit switchs and inluding intercome and
telephone system and bell.

- The Contractor shall supply and install all wiring from the load brake switch in the machine pit to
control system and panel .
- All electrical conduits which could be damaged during normal operation of the elevator shall run in
tubes or cable ducts. Where necessary, flexible metal tubing shall be used to connect the movable or
adjustable equipment.
- The length of the flexible tubing is as short as possible.
- All conduits shall be tied up. At locations where cable passes through steel sheets or elements, a
cable protecting device shall be provided.
- Grounding wires from inspection doors, trapdoors, panels, and likewise shall be fixed to the
grounding rail of the equipment rack.
- Determine the size of main power cable according to the elevator rated power VA .
- Precommissioning and commissioning and test all safety and interlock system electrical and
mechanical .
- Submit the manual,operating manual instruction, wiring diagram and other.
- Submit the two year spare parts.
- Electrical special tools
- All wiring outside the elevator.
- Out scope Main switch (switchgear drawer)
- Lighting and socket outlet in machine room
- Power supply to machine room up to main switch of the elevator
- Electrical power in machine for installation.
- Lighting current at commencement of installation.
- Cost of electrical power
- Provision and laying of electrical wiring required outside shaft, e.g.interphone cables, signal leads for
emergency power control, etc.
 ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS

o General specifications:

- All equipment shall full fill Ambient temperature 45 c◦


- All electrical equipment and materials to be installed outdoor and in process area shall withstand
the sea climate, mechanical and chemical dust air mainly Urea, NH3, clay, sand. This should be
taken into account in the quality of materials and paint used.
- Mechanical protection IP should be 55
- Identification and lettering including tages name ,wire marks ………etc.
- All devices and equipment such as motor and drive all card …….. ETC should be EU.

o Electrical equipment specification

1- Motor
- Electric three-phase squirrel cage AC induction motor 400 VOLT.
- The insulation class of the motor shall be “F/B” Motor protection of [ outdoor: IP 55]should be
provided,temperature 45 c , duty S1 ,Country of origion EU, identification mounting ,effeiency
IE4…….ETC and Motors shall be totally enclosed fan cooled TEFC.
- Stainless steel nameplate shall be attached to each motor, shall be stamped with the
manufacturer's name, model number, manufacture year, duty cycle, output power in KW, operation
voltage, current, frequency, speed, insulation class/temperature rise, type of enclosure, bearings
data, re-greasing intervals for re-greasing motors and other motor data (if any).
- The motor shall be protected a with overheat thermal protection & by thermal safety device .
- Vendor selection: ABB - SIEMENS - VEM - SCHORCH – AEG.

2- Control Cabinet :
- The control shall be located in a dust preventing cabinet, manufactured of steel sheet, and provided
with a lock.
- The control cabinet shall be located in the machine area; however there shall be sufficient space
available to execute the maintenance works. All equipment shall be rack mounted. All switches, relays,
safety devices and other equipment shall be provided with non removable indications. The electrical
supply shall be 400V, equipped with overload, under voltage and phase sequence protection.
- The control shall operate closed loop (VVVF) system.
- The air condition device is within the scope of supply of the manufacturer.
- The control shall be suited to be interfaced with the fire alarm control panel, which shall stop elevator
operation whenever a fire alarm signal is initiated.

A- Drive :
- (VVVF) system should be closed loop with Braking resistor.

- The VVVF drive should include but not limited to the following protection function such as
overload and under/over voltage ,thermal PTC terminals , internal over heat and, locked rotor &
phase sequences ……etc.
- Controlled by frequency converter (IP54).The box of the frequency converter is air conditioned
due to high ambient temperature of 45°C.
B- Control system :
- Centralized control system should control the travel machine , re-leveling system ,
braking system , recall orders , position indicator , door photo-cell , interlocking doors
and door drive system.
- Centralized control system should include the safety factors.
3- Control:
-Double - button collective control, direction sensitive.
4- Car:
- Ceiling: with light & fan
5- Type of doors:
- One side automatically opened
- Two part sliding doors for car and shaft
6- Equipment:
- car control panel recessed in wall with: position indicator, call buttons, alarm button,3-way intercom
unit, fan, open telephone compartment (telephone by others),telephone cable from machine room to
car, main switch.
7- Indicator:
- Car position indicator: inside and outside on floor +0,2m.
8- Life support system:
- The cabin shall be prepared to install a life support system. The life support system will be
provided by others. The provision to accommodate the life support systemshall not be covered
by a glass door. Door open button, overload indicator.
9- Elevator machine room
- The elevator machine room shall comprise the power and control cabinets for the elevator
All interconnections between other rooms and the elevator machine room are in contractor
scope of work (E.g. fire alarm, telephone, communication)
a) Alight switch shall be located near each entrance / exit to switch zone wise luminaires on/off.
b) Luminaries shall be provided in order to achieve minimum luminance of 300 lux.
C) receptacles shall be provided.
10- Safety provisions for elevator :

Should include the following should be included but not limited to:
- Elevator should be included but not limited to all Electrical and mechanical safety and inter locks such
as speed governor, wire rope switches , emergency pushbuttons , limit switch for end travels (up &
down) & door limit switch & re-leveling sensor & over weight……..etc.
- During power failure, the Secure DC power supply should be existing to supply for emergency lighting
and emergency calling.
- Temperature sensor should be installed inside the cabinet to stop the drive in case of high
temperature.
- Alarm bell should be installed inside the cabinet.

 Maintenance Service
a) Initial Maintenance Service
b) Perform maintenance, including emergency callback service, during normal working hours.
c) Continuing Maintenance Service

 Warranty & Guarantee :


- The Manufacturer shall guarantee the equipment with Warranty Period 24 months from date of
Substantial Completion of all elevators work in the project.

 Codes & Standard:


- The design, specification, construction, erection and operation shall comply with applicable German
EN 81 andEgypt laws and regulations.
- Electrical equipment and materials shall be designed, rated, manufactured and installed in
compliance with the latest edition of mentioned codes and standards (VDE, IEC, DIN, EN).
- Electrical equipment/materials installed in package units shall follow previously mentioned
standards.
 Final Inspection:
- By client's inspector.
