ONLINE INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR OUR LADY OF MANAOAG COLLEGES

A Research Title Proposal Presented to the Faculty of the College of Computer Studies

Objectives The proponents have come up with the following objectives for their study in order to achieve their goal in developing a website for Our Lady of Manaoag Colleges.

1. To identify the competence of the school in providing online information for the students. 2. To be able to know the advantages and disadvantages of the school for the students through the proposed system. 3. To identify the design considerations, contents and

security measures that will be implemented and integrated in the development of the proposed system. Background Nowadays the country is experiencing a great improvement such as computerization and automation of many schools and

educational processes. An On-line Information System is one which accepts input directly from the area where it is created. It is also a system in which the outputs, or results of computation, are returned directly to where they are required. A common characteristic of on-line systems is that data are entered into the computer system and received from the computer system remotely. That is, the users of the computer system

typically interact with the computer from terminals that may be

located hundreds of miles from other terminals and computer itself.

Another characteristic of an on-line system is that its stored data, that is, its files or its database, are usually organized in such a way that individual pieces of data can be retrieved and/or modified (1) quickly and (2) without

necessarily accessing any other piece of data in the system. With an on-line information system, the academic and

service departments of Our Lady of Manaoag Colleges can access data from a centralized database such that information needed by one department from another may be obtained through the system.

Strategy Interview. The proponents will schedule a face to face

meetings or personal interview with the school administration and other stakeholders. Group Task Analysis. The method used to gain an

understanding of the steps that the users take to complete a particular task and the sequence in which they take those steps. Document Analysis. The proponents will be using spiral

methodology for the development of their study; they will also use PHP and Adobe Dreamweaver for the system, WAMP for the

server and Adobe Photoshop for the design of the system.

Resources The proponents will make use of books, previous project studies project. and internet as a resources and reference for the

1. Determine the current problems and issues that involves in the flow of the alumni tracking system. 2. Identify the required functionalities that are considered in the development of the alumni tracking system for Our Lady of Manaoag Colleges. 3. Identify the design considerations and security measures that will be integrated in developing the proposed system. Background Technological advancements in the fields of communication and information sharing and usage are coming forth more and more rapidly. Online message, e-mails, videoconferences, various methods of communications are enhancing chats and lives

today and by previous users with much ease. Information technologies are being introduced in fields

that traditionally have been quite isolated in the technological sense. An alumni tracking system enable increasing numbers of community colleges to respond to external demands for

accountability with tangible measurements of student progress and institutional outcomes. This study intends to develop an alumni tracking system and let the former students of the school to communicate with each other. Several recent trends have prompted interest in

monitoring student progress throughout college and into their professional lives.
