To whom it may concern, 

I am writing this reference at the request of Sophia Butkiewicz who is completing her senior
portfolio at Meridian High School. 

I have had the pleasure of knowing Sophia for a year in my capacity as a Cafe Manager at the
Dow Gardens Whiting Forest Cafe. Sophia is a seasonal Guest Services Cafe Associate. Based
on Sophia’s positive outlook, willingness to learn, timeliness, and team player attitude, I’d rate
Sophia’s performance as excellent. 

Sophia has a number of strengths to offer an employer. Sophia is always interested in

supporting others by identifying a need in the cafe and stepping in to address that need. For
example, this past summer the cafe had its busiest season year to date and with new seasonal
staff learning their roles, Sophia often took the initiative to help management maintain
operations by cleaning tables, preparing orders, answering patron questions, ringing in patron
transactions, and much more. Sophia would also help new staff identify a task to complete to
keep the cafe operations running smoothly. In fact, Sophia has done so well in her role as a
seasonal Cafe Associate that she is considered a part of the year around team often working
weekends during the school year and picking up special shifts supporting summer events.
When Sophia is approached with a special event or a schedule change, she happily accepts the
offer. Sophia is a strong asset to anyone working with her.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend Sophia Butkiewicz. If her performance as a Cafe

Associate at Dow Gardens is any indication of how she would perform in another positions,
Sophia will be a positive addition to any organization. If you should ever need additional
