Part of Amsterdam-based AMG Advanced Metallurgical Group, AMG Vanadium plans to install a
new flue gas desulfurization unit at its facility in Cambridge, Ohio. Subject to environmental
permitting which is expected by the third quarter of 2018, the company is aiming to complete the
expansion by the end next year, at which point its spent catalyst recycling capacity will increase by
approximately 30%.
The expansion will allow us to continue to provide our partners with an industry-leading
environmental solution for their spent catalyst recycling needs as their requirements grow,
comments AMG Vanadium’s president Hoy Frakes.
The business has become one of America’s leaders in converting oil refinery and power plant waste
products into ferro-vanadium, nickel and molybdenum primanly used by global steel producers in
automotive, energy transmission and infrastructure applications.

Catalyst recycling – always worth its while
Catalyst are needed for a whole range of processes – so much so that it is hard to imagine industry
without them. Which means there is also a steadily growing demand for catalyst recycling services.
This is especially true when valuable precious metals such as platinum, palladium, rhodium, gold
and silver are used as catalyst material. This is, for example, often the case in the pharmaceutical,
petrochemicals and specialty chemicals industries. Recycling this material to recover the precious
metals not only helps to conserve our planet’s natural resources, it simply makes good business
sense as well.
